This summer, the popularity of travel among residents in the Yangtze River Delta has surged.
According to data from China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd., in July, the Yangtze River Delta Railway sent over 81 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of over 18%. So, where do residents of the Yangtze River Delta love to go for summer vacations? Which cities and attractions do tourists visiting the Yangtze River Delta prefer? How is the hotel's price increase?
Disney remains the most popular tourist attraction
From the perspective of hotel order volume, the tourism industry in cities at all levels of the Yangtze River Delta has significantly recovered.
According to platform data, compared to the same period in 2019, hotel order volumes in cities across the Yangtze River Delta have shown positive growth in July this year, with growth rates ranging from 60% to 300%. The increase in 32 cities is more than double.

The attractiveness of some third - and fourth tier cities has increased significantly. Compared to 2019, the hotel order volume in Lianyungang, Huzhou, and Yangzhou has increased by more than twice.
However, due to their large base, the growth rate of first - and second tier cities is relatively limited, but it has also exceeded the same period in 2019.
At the same time as the increase in order volume, it has to some extent raised hotel prices.
Except for Changzhou and Ningbo, the average room rates of hotels in major cities in the Yangtze River Delta have increased to varying degrees.
Among them, the overall average price of hotels in Shanghai has increased the most, by 22.2% compared to the same period last year, rising from 305.9 yuan last year to 373.9 yuan. Looking at it in detail, low-end hotels have driven more growth, with an increase of 43%. Mid range hotels saw a 24% increase.
Although the price increase of hotels in Hangzhou is lower than that in Shanghai, the average prices of mid-range and low-end hotels are higher than those in Shanghai.

In terms of tourist attractions, Shanghai Disney still ranks first in terms of order volume. According to statistics, the daily number of visitors to Shanghai International Tourism Resort remains around 76000, with a peak exceeding 100000. In 2019, the average daily number of visitors to the park was 48800, indicating that the increase in ticket prices did not affect the enthusiasm of tourists.
In terms of order growth, in addition to theme parks, the natural and cultural scenery of the Yangtze River Delta has also become a new highlight. Compared to the same period in 2019, Nanjing Niushoushan Cultural Tourism Area had the highest increase in orders, followed by Wuzhen Xizha and Zhongshan Scenic Area.

As of August 15th, a certain tourism platform has launched a total of 445 parent-child travel packages starting from popular cities in the Yangtze River Delta. According to market demand, South China, represented by Hainan, has the highest number of related packages, with Hainan ranking first, Guangdong and Guangxi ranking third and fifth.
In terms of sales, the most popular package in Hainan Province is "Sanya 2-30 Day Free Tour", which has sold over 177000 copies in the Yangtze River Delta. Its main attractions include seaside vacations in Yalong Bay, Haitang Bay, and Sanya Bay.
Although Hong Kong does not have a wide range of travel options to choose from, with only 7 options, its sales are relatively high, second only to Hainan. Hong Kong tourism mainly focuses on theme parks, including attractions such as Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park.
From the perspective of consumer prices, parents are willing to spend money on parent-child travel, and the proportion of poor travelers is relatively small.
In the above Ctrip parent-child travel package, the average price of products with sales exceeding 500 orders is 3426 yuan, far exceeding the per capita tourism expenditure during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday in China. Among them, nearly 10% of products are priced above 5000 yuan, and over 20% of products are priced above 4000 yuan.

From the perspective of flight conditions, the international tourism market needs to be improved.
According to statistics, the total number of flights from 11 major airports in the Yangtze River Delta, including Shanghai Pudong, Shanghai Hongqiao, and Hangzhou Xiaoshan, reached 148300 in July this year, an increase of 4.87% compared to the same period in 2019.
This is mainly due to the growth of domestic flight volume. For example, the domestic flight volume at Shanghai Pudong Airport increased by 22.67% compared to 2019. But international flight volume still decreased by 46.5%.
The overall number of international flights in the Yangtze River Delta has only recovered to 56% of the same period in 2019.
However, compared to the past three years, international flight volume has recovered at a visible speed this year. In July this year, the international flight volume of the 11 major airports in the Yangtze River Delta was more than double the total number of flights during the same period from 2020 to 2022.
And with the further expansion of outbound tourism countries, the recovery of the international tourism market will also accelerate.
