By 2025, the concept of green and low-carbon living and the norms of green and low-carbon development will be widely disseminated in primary, secondary and tertiary schools in Shanghai, and the concept of green and low-carbon will enter the education system of primary, secondary and tertiary schools. At the opening ceremony of the 5th Shanghai Student Ecological and Environmental Protection Festival and the Student Ecological Civilization Education Forum held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center today, the second Shanghai Youth "Dual Carbon" Plan Proposal Competition was launched, and a series of books titled "Exploration of Ecological Civilization Education Curriculum Construction" were released.
As one of the important activities of the Student Ecological and Environmental Protection Festival, the first Shanghai Youth "Dual Carbon" Plan Proposal Competition allowed students to focus on themselves, explore and study the "green" issues around them, and propose corresponding solutions in areas such as energy conservation and carbon reduction, resource recycling, and biodiversity. This not only strengthened students' attention and thinking on ecological and environmental issues, but also stimulated their enthusiasm for environmental protection. This competition aims to inspire more students to care about environmental issues around them, and use their insight, creativity, and imagination to propose efficient and interesting "dual carbon" solutions, providing suggestions and suggestions for building a beautiful Shanghai and a beautiful China.
The latest "Exploration of Ecological Civilization Education Curriculum Construction" series of books focuses on the psychological characteristics and acceptance ability of adolescents at different age groups of primary, middle, and high schools. Through systematic planning and scientific design, valuable experiences from the process of creating green schools in Shanghai are integrated, highlighting the cultivation of ecological civilization education concepts and green low-carbon living habits, and cultivating a sense of social responsibility for young people to love nature and protect the environment. It is reported that environmental protection experts, education experts, and frontline teachers who have been engaged in ecological and environmental education in Shanghai have compiled a series of books titled "Exploration of Ecological Civilization Education Curriculum Construction". The entire series consists of three volumes, namely "Ecological Little Angel", "Ecological Little Guardian", and "Ecological Volunteer", which are applicable to lower primary school, upper primary school, and middle school, respectively. For the lower grades of primary school, the main goal is to awaken their deep-seated sense of closeness to nature and sow love for nature in the depths of their hearts; For the upper grades of primary school, many daily life scenarios and simple experimental designs are provided to promote students to practice low-carbon lifestyles in clothing, food, housing, and transportation, and cultivate low-carbon habits; For the middle school stage, emphasis is placed on cultivating a sense of social responsibility among middle school students, helping them to have a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of China's resources and environmental conditions, and recognizing the importance and necessity of practicing green and low-carbon in daily life. In the future, an ecological explorer suitable for high school students will be compiled and published, guiding students to integrate interdisciplinary knowledge, explore major ecological and environmental issues faced by human society, and enhance their comprehensive literacy and key abilities in adapting to and serving society.
The Implementation Plan for the Construction of the National Education System for Green and Low Carbon Development in Shanghai issued by the Municipal Education Commission clearly states that green and low-carbon development should be integrated into the entire process of education and teaching. The preliminary construction of a discipline and professional system related to carbon peak and carbon neutrality in universities has significantly improved the ability for scientific and technological innovation and the level of innovative talent cultivation; Taking into account the development of education and the needs of teachers and students, clarifying policies and measures for energy conservation and carbon reduction in schools, and promoting comprehensive green transformation in promoting high-quality development of education. By 2030, we will achieve the systematic cultivation and development of students' green and low-carbon lifestyle and behavior habits, form a relatively complete multi-level green and low-carbon concept education system, and connect the entire process of youth growth, forming a group of first-class disciplines and research institutions with international influence and authority in carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
In order to further implement ecological civilization education, the Municipal Green Affairs Commission and the Municipal Education Commission jointly promote the "Green Quality Courses on Campus" project. Units such as the Shanghai Green Management Guidance Station, Shanghai Botanical Garden, and Shanghai Institute of Landscape Science Planning have established a Green Course Teaching and Research Group to be responsible for course research and development, integration, and delivery to schools. The pilot units, represented by the Shanghai Greening Management Guidance Station and the Hongkou District Education Bureau, signed an on-site contract. In the future, more and more systematic green quality courses will enter primary and secondary school campuses, enriching student classrooms.
