Xi Jinping holds talks with Egyptian President Sisi
On the afternoon of May 29, President Xi Jinping held talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with Egyptian President Sisi, who was in China to attend the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum and pay a state visit.
Xi Jinping pointed out that 68 years ago, Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. Despite the ever-changing international situation, the two countries have always trusted each other, sincerely cooperated and developed hand in hand. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Egypt. Over the past 10 years, President Sisi and I have jointly led the vigorous development of bilateral relations. China-Egypt relations have become a vivid reflection of the unity, cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win results between China and Arab, African, Islamic and developing countries. Under the new situation, building a more meaningful and dynamic China-Egypt relations is in line with the common expectations of the two peoples. China is willing to work with Egypt to continuously deepen mutual trust, promote cooperation, build a China-Egypt community with a shared future for the new era, and contribute to regional and even world peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
Xi Jinping emphasized that China is comprehensively advancing the great cause of building a strong country and rejuvenating the nation, and China-Egypt exchanges and cooperation in various fields are facing historic opportunities. Both sides should continue to firmly support each other and work together to promote common development. China is willing to work with Egypt to tap into the potential for cooperation in traditional fields such as infrastructure, industry, electricity, and agriculture, open up cooperation in emerging fields such as medical and health care, information communications, and renewable energy, deepen economic and trade investment cooperation, and encourage more Chinese companies to invest and establish businesses in Egypt. . We should successfully hold this year's "China-Egypt Partnership Year", expand personnel exchanges and cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, and build Egypt's "Luban Workshop" into a benchmark for China-Africa vocational education cooperation.
Xi Jinping emphasized that China supports Egypt in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs, and is willing to further intensify coordination and cooperation with Egypt on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the BRICS cooperation mechanism, and advocate an equal and orderly multipolar world. and promote inclusive economic globalization, and jointly safeguard international fairness and justice and the common interests of developing countries. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. Sisi said that he was very happy to pay a state visit to China and attend the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. Egypt looks forward to further deepening its comprehensive strategic partnership with China and striving to promote regional peace and stability. The two sides also exchanged views on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Xi Jinping pointed out that this round of Palestinian-Israeli conflict has caused a large number of innocent Palestinian civilian casualties and the humanitarian situation in Gaza is extremely serious. China is deeply saddened. The top priority is to cease fire and end the war immediately to prevent the conflict from spilling over and impacting regional peace and stability, and to prevent a more serious humanitarian crisis. The "two-state solution" is the fundamental solution to the Palestinian issue. China firmly supports Palestine becoming a full member of the United Nations. China appreciates Egypt's important role in promoting the cooling of the situation and implementing humanitarian relief, and is willing to work with Egypt to continue to provide the people of Gaza with assistance within its capacity and promote an early comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.
Sisi said that Egypt highly appreciates China's always upholding justice and adhering to a just stance on the Palestinian issue, and is willing to maintain close communication with China to promote the easing of tensions in Gaza as soon as possible.
After the talks, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents on promoting the cooperation plan for jointly building the "Belt and Road", scientific and technological innovation, investment and economic cooperation, quarantine and other fields.
The two sides issued the "Joint Statement between the People's Republic of China and the Arab Republic of Egypt on Deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership."
Before the talks, Xi Jinping held a welcome ceremony for Sisi at the square outside the east gate of the Great Hall of the People.
When Sisi arrived, soldiers lined up to salute him. The two heads of state boarded the reviewing stand, the military band played the national anthems of China and Egypt, and a 21-gun salute was fired in Tiananmen Square. Accompanied by Xi Jinping, Sisi reviewed the honor guard of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and watched the procession.
That night, Xi Jinping held a welcome banquet for Sisi in the Golden Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
