Today is the 37th "World No Tobacco Day", and this year's theme is "Protecting Youth from the Harm of Tobacco". The theme publicity event sponsored by the Municipal Patriotic Health Campaign Committee and the Municipal Health Commission released the latest Shanghai adult and adolescent tobacco prevalence survey core data and outdoor second-hand smoke survey results. The results show that the current smoking rate of adults aged 15 and above in this city is 19.2%, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points from 2022. The current smoking rates of men and women are 36.3% and 0.8%. Since the legislation of tobacco control, the adult smoking rate has dropped by 7.7 percentage points, showing a continuous downward trend for 13 consecutive years, reaching the "Healthy China 2030" goal ahead of schedule.

The survey results also showed that the proportion of cigarette smoking among middle school students in the city in 2023 was 1.4%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points compared with 2021, of which 4.6% were among vocational school students. The e-cigarette usage rate among middle school students in the city is 1.6%, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points compared with 2021, of which 3.4% are among vocational school students.

The current e-cigarette use rate among adults is 1.4%, an increase of 0.3 percentage points from 2022. The current e-cigarette use rate among men and women is 2.3% and 0.5%. The proportion of non-smokers exposed to second-hand smoke was 47.6%, an increase of 5.9 percentage points from 2022. Citizens’ scientific understanding of the diseases that smoking and second-hand smoke can cause needs to be improved.

This year is the 15th year of Shanghai's tobacco control legislation. Tobacco control supervision continues to strengthen, and the situation of smoking control in public places continues to improve. The incidence of illegal smoking in statutory no-smoking places has dropped from 37.5% before the tobacco control legislation in 2010 to 12.4%. Citizens are concerned about the complete ban on indoor smoking. The support rate is as high as 98.1%.

The reporter learned that in 2022, the smoking rate of adults aged 15 and above in my country will be 24.1%, and Shanghai is leading the country in tobacco control. However, looking around the world, countries or regions with good tobacco control can achieve an adult smoking rate of less than 10%, which also means that there is still room for improvement in Shanghai's tobacco control.

A recent survey of 10,000 people on outdoor "smoking" conducted at the same time showed that nearly 60% of citizens often encounter "smoking" and more than 90% of citizens express disgust with "smoking". The top five places where citizens encounter "smoke" are: outdoor waiting areas; sidewalks and traffic light waiting areas; outdoor playgrounds; bus stations; and entrances and exits of shopping malls and commercial buildings.

It is worth noting that nearly 30% of citizens said that "smoking" is also common in front of schools. More than 60% of citizens believe that some specific and key outdoor crowd gathering places should also be included in the legal ban on smoking; the "smoking" behavior of smoking in outdoor crowded places and smoking while walking should be legislatively controlled; "combination of blocking and blocking" should be implemented Smoking points should be set up outdoors according to regulations, and smoking point signs and guidance signs should be marked; publicity and advocacy should be strengthened to gradually form smokers' conscious awareness and behavior of not smoking "smoking" outdoors.

The Municipal Health Care Office stated that it hopes that more citizens and volunteers will join the tobacco control society and carry out publicity and supervision. They can do so through the "Shanghai Release" WeChat public account "City Hall", the "Smoke-free Shanghai" WeChat public account "Function Menu", The "Smoking Control Heat Map" and "12345" Citizen Hotline in the "Healthy Cloud Pro" applet "Health Management" provide clues to smoking control issues in legally prohibited places.

The Municipal Health Care Office also joined forces with various tobacco control regulatory departments, the Municipal Health Promotion Center, and the Municipal Smoking Control Association to issue an initiative to the whole society: abide by laws and regulations, strengthen tobacco control actions, protect citizens, especially the next generation of young people, from the harm of tobacco smoke, and continue to promote The "Trilogy of Smoking Control Actions", namely "Completely no smoking indoors, no smoking outdoors, and please read the signs when smoking", resolutely refrain from smoking in non-smoking places and public places, reject second-hand smoke and outdoor "smoking", and jointly create and maintain A smoke-free, healthy and safe urban environment.

Ms. Bian's "urgency", This is a long-standing "urgency" for patients: waiting for surgery, but the beds in the department are full. The expedient solution of many medical institutions is to allow patients to "extra beds" in the corridor. However, narrow aisles present many inconveniences and safety hazards, which also greatly affect the medical experience. What’s even more worrying is that sometimes with the high incidence of seasonal specialist diseases, you have to wait even for an extra bed. At the same time, another
