On May 15, the Department of Ecology and Environment released three low-carbon themed tour routes at the 2024 National Low Carbon Day Shanghai theme event: Carbon Xun Riverside Relaxation Tour, Carbon Xun Park Green Tour, and Carbon Xun Park Vacation Tour to guide citizens Visitors can deeply experience Shanghai’s unique natural scenery and cultural charm in a low-carbon way.
Carbon-seeking riverside leisure tour takes the riverside space as the main activity area and calls on citizens and tourists to unlock Shanghai's low-carbon landmarks through cycling, ferrying, etc.
Carbon Xun Park Green Tour, with the park as the main activity area, calls on citizens and tourists to experience Shanghai's urban culture and find natural entrances in typical cases of urban renewal.
The Carbon Discovery Park Vacation Tour, with the park as the main activity area, calls on citizens and tourists to explore biodiversity and experience low-carbon amusement facilities in the Shanghai International Tourism Resort.
In March 2011, Shanghai launched the construction of the first batch of low-carbon development practice areas, and 8 areas including Hongqiao Business District were included in the pilot scope. In the same year, the second batch of low-carbon development practice areas was launched in five areas including the Shanghai World Expo Park. In May 2023, the second batch of low-carbon development practice zones in Shanghai completed acceptance.
These low-carbon development practice areas have made achievements in the fields of renewable energy development, green buildings, low-carbon transportation, sponge resilience facilities, etc., forming a large number of demonstration projects and forming a beautiful low-carbon landscape in Shanghai. Through research, the Shanghai Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Center has given full play to the demonstration effect of the low-carbon development practice area by setting up low-carbon tourism routes and encouraging young people to travel in "fashionable" ways such as low-energy consumption and low-pollution travel.
The organizer of this Shanghai themed event, Shanghai Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Center, will purchase voluntary emission reductions to achieve carbon neutrality.
