The Torch Relay of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou Launches
The opening ceremony of the torch relay for the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games was held at the Yongjin Park Square in West Lake, Hangzhou. Luo Xuejuan, a local female swimmer from Hangzhou and champion of the women's 100m breaststroke at the 2004 Athens Olympics, became the first torchbearer at the Hangzhou Asian Games. On the first day of the torch relay at Hangzhou Station, there were a total of 106 torchbearers from various industries, including advanced models, famous athletes, grassroots workers, Zhejiang craftsmen, and so on.
The torch relay route mainly revolves around Hangzhou West Lake, a world cultural heritage site. Starting from Yongjin Park Square, it follows Nanshan Road, Hubin Road, Huancheng West Road, Beishan Street, Xiling Bridge, and Gushan Road, and finally arrives at Pinghu Autumn Moon, one of the ten scenic spots of West Lake. The total length of the relay route is 5.2 kilometers, which can be said to be a very beautiful route around West Lake.
After the first day of the relay in Hangzhou, it will start a relay throughout the entire province of Zhejiang, covering 11 cities. On September 20th, it will return to Hangzhou and complete the last stop of the relay.
