On the morning of September 5th, the 10th Meeting of Ministers of Justice of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states was held in Shanghai.Chen Wenqing, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, read out a congratulatory letter at the opening ceremony and delivered a welcoming speech to the conference. The Meeting of Ministers of Justice of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states is a multilateral cooperation mechanism within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. This conference is hosted by the Ministry of Justice of China, and it is the second time in 10 years that it has been hosted in China. The attending parties had in-depth exchanges on the achievements and challenges faced by the conference mechanism in the past 10 years, and formed a series of achievements in strengthening practical cooperation in the field of the rule of law. The Ministers of Justice of all member states unanimously believe that cooperation among the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the legal and judicial fields is very important. All parties have reached a consensus on strengthening interaction between the judicial departments of each member state, deepening cooperation in the field of legal services, continuing regular dialogue, and effectively implementing agreements. They have jointly signed the Joint Statement of the Tenth Meeting of Ministers of Justice of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. The Joint Statement emphasizes the strengthening of exchanges between the judicial departments of member states of this organization to expand cooperation in the legal and judicial fields; Organize meetings, legal cooperation forums, seminars and other activities to better exchange experiences; Continue to carry out the activities of the expert working group on judicial appraisal and legal services, and deepen cooperation in the field of legal services; Relevant countries should promote the exchange of information on laws and regulations, legal service institutions, and legal service experts based on their own realities, in order to promote the development of the rule of law in member countries.
During the meeting, He Rong held bilateral talks with Iranian Minister of Justice Rahimi, Deputy Minister Jam, Kazakhstan Minister of Justice Yeskalayev, Kyrgyzstan Minister of Justice Bayatov, Pakistan Prosecutor General Awan, Russian Minister of Justice Trechenko, Tajikistan Minister of Justice Ashuriyen, and Uzbekistan Minister of Justice Tashkulov. He also signed a cooperation framework for 2024-2025 with Russian Minister of Justice Trechenko and signed a cooperation plan for 2024-2025 with Kyrgyzstan Minister of Justice Bayatov.
Representatives of the Minister of Justice of member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and officials from some member countries' embassies and consulates in China attended the meeting on site, with the Iranian Ministry of Justice serving as a member of the mechanism for the first time, and both the Minister of Justice and the Deputy Minister of Justice attended the meeting; Indian Minister of Law and Justice Meghwar gave an online speech. Wang Yixing, Deputy Secretary General of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, Wang Zhenjiang, Deputy Minister of Justice, Wu Qing, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission, and Li Zheng, Standing Committee Member and Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, attended the opening ceremony. More than 370 representatives from member units of the China Shanghai Cooperation Organization Legal Services Committee, as well as representatives from judicial administrative agencies, bar associations, notary associations, and related legal service institutions in various regions, as well as representatives from foreign law firms stationed in China, attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States Meeting of Ministers of Justice and the International Forum on Legal Services.
