Pudong police are in action!, Escort the children's journey to school
Recently, with the start of school for children, Pudong Public Security and Traffic Police have taken multiple measures to analyze and judge the traffic conditions in front of and around each school, tailoring "one school, one policy" to maintain traffic order around the campus and fully protect the children's school journey.
"Parents, please lean the vehicle further to the side..."
"Children, walk slowly, don't run..."
On the roadside of the newly opened Lingshan Road underpass at the Sixth Affiliated Primary School, traffic police are guiding parents and students to pass in an orderly manner, reminding pick-up and drop off vehicles to "stop and leave immediately", while parent volunteers are escorting students into the campus. Seeing the school gate in an orderly manner, Aunt Shi, the parent who picks up and drops off their children every day, couldn't help but feel emotional: now that this new channel is available, picking up and dropping off is very convenient and safe, solving a big problem for us parents!

Zhu Rongxue, an instructor from the Traffic Police Detachment of Pudong Public Security Sub bureau, pointed out during a live broadcast of the "Legal Voice" column of the FM106.5 legal education column of the Voice of Shanghai that the difficulties faced by parents are also the bottlenecks that urgently need to be solved. There are currently over 2000 students at the Yushan Campus of Sixth Normal School Affiliated Primary School, coupled with nearby stations, overpasses, and residential areas, these factors have combined to cause congestion at the school entrance. With the efforts of the traffic police brigade, community, and street in the jurisdiction, Lingshan Road has now opened a dedicated passage for school and after-school activities. At the same time, further optimization plans have been formulated, such as prohibiting motor vehicles from passing through the U-shaped auxiliary road outside the main entrance of the school during and after school; Non motorized vehicles drive in one direction and do not turn back; Parents will pick up and drop off non motorized vehicles from Yushan Road, while motorized vehicles will be diverted from Lingshan Road to achieve separation of people and vehicles.
Teacher Wang Xiufeng from Sixth Affiliated Primary School introduced during the live broadcast that the congestion at the school entrance has been effectively improved, thanks to the linkage mechanism of "police schools and homes". The school has also developed a plan for entering and exiting the school gate at different times and locations, with designated times and locations for each grade. The traffic police have set up a drop off point on Lingshan Road. After students get off, they enter the passage to go to school, and parents stop and walk immediately. In addition, the duty assistance of teacher volunteers and parent volunteers ensures the safety of children entering and exiting the school gate, and also provides convenience for parents to pick up and drop off their children.
Even before the start of the school year, the Traffic Police Brigade had already drafted a detailed "one school, one plan" plan for 12 schools, including Fushan Foreign Language Primary School, Sixth Normal Affiliated Primary School, Second Central Primary School, Jincai Middle School, Yangjing Middle School, and Xinzhuyuan Middle School, which were located at complex intersections, road sections, and surrounded by busy traffic order. In response to the comprehensive renovation of Zhangyang Road around the school, rainwater and sewage, and the entry of overhead lines into the ground and other construction projects, we will conduct advance investigations and visits to the construction party, adjust the construction process during the school commuting period, and eliminate safety hazards.
At the beginning of the school year, many parents who were sending their children to school noticed that the road at the school entrance was painted with prominent "creases" on the ground. Zhu Rongxue, instructor of the Traffic Police Detachment of Pudong Public Security Bureau, introduced that this type of marking is called the visual illusion deceleration line, which is to remind motor vehicles to slow down when driving near the school gate, pay attention to avoiding pedestrians, and ensure the safety of students.

In a special survey on the way students go to and from school, Pudong Traffic Police found that besides walking, taking public transportation, school buses, and private cars, the proportion of students riding non motorized vehicles is very high. Teacher Zhu specially reminds parents that non motorized vehicle riders must wear safety helmets according to regulations, do not run red lights, and do not drive in the motor vehicle lane. Traffic violations such as driving two or more electric bicycles or driving electric tricycles on the road must be strictly investigated and punished.
For parents who drive to pick up and drop off their children, Teacher Zhu suggests that parents arrange their pick-up and drop off time reasonably and not rush out, driving or parking recklessly in order to save time. For parents who walk to pick up and drop off their children, they should also follow traffic rules, walk on sidewalks, and avoid running red lights when crossing the road. Good traffic order requires each traffic participant to start from themselves and work together to contribute to the orderly and smooth flow of traffic!
