Brazilian President: Developed Countries Should Take More Responsibility on Climate Change Issues
On the 9th local time, Brazilian President Lula stated at the 18th G20 Leaders Summit in New Delhi, India that in the long run, developed countries have a greater impact on global warming and should bear more responsibility.
Lula said that developed countries have not made the necessary commitments to address climate change for a long time, which has led to the accumulation of "climate debt" over the past two centuries. If action is not taken immediately, the impact of climate change will be irreversible.
Lula promised to establish a "Global Task Force on Climate Change" during Brazil's rotating presidency of the G20. Brazil will assume the rotating presidency of the G20 on December 1st this year.
