Li Zaiming is on trial and on the 10th day of hunger strike
According to China News Agency, on the 9th local time, Lee Jae ming, the leader of South Korea's largest opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea, went to the Suwon District Prosecutor's Office again for investigation. Since August 31st, Lee Jae ming has been on a hunger strike and sitting in protest against the South Korean government.
According to Global Times, around 9am on the same day, when Li Zaiming arrived at the prosecutor's office, conservative and progressive groups held a demonstration in front of the Suwon local prosecutor's office. Progressive supporters hold up slogans to impeach Yin Xiyue, while conservatives shout slogans to arrest Li Zaiming. These groups have also experienced friction incidents such as mutual insults and conflicts.
The Suwon District Prosecutor's Office stated that an investigation into Li Zaiming began at 10:30 am on the 9th, and Li Zaiming requested the end of the interrogation on the grounds of physical health. Considering that Li Zaiming entered the 10th day of hunger strike on the same day, the prosecution interrupted the investigation at around 18:40 and reported that Li Zaiming arrived at 10:30 am on the 12th to complete the next investigation. But Li Zaiming replied that it may be difficult to attend due to scheduling issues.
This is Li Zaiming's fifth appearance at the court for interrogation. He has previously been investigated for the sponsorship case of Chengnan FC Football Club, the Henan Weili and Chengnan Dazhuangdong New City construction project fraud, as well as the real estate development fraud case of Baixiandong.
On August 31st, Li Zaiming announced an indefinite hunger strike and sit in to protest against the "tyranny" of the Yin Xiyue government, which "undermines democracy.". Li Zaiming also demanded that the government of Yin Xiyue clearly express its opposition to Japan's nuclear contaminated water discharge into the sea, and apologize to the people for damaging people's livelihoods.
On the day when Lee Jae ming celebrated his first anniversary as the head of the Democratic Party, he stated at a press conference that he would do his best to prevent the destruction of democracy, and said, "The collapse of national life in the Republic of Korea is my greatest responsibility. I have not been able to prevent a regression in governance or an incompetent regime. I have always believed that I should take on this responsibility."
Li Zaiming criticized the South Korean government for joining Japan as an accomplice and failing to resist Japan's nuclear contaminated water discharge plan, which threatens national safety and property.
