Li Qiang Attends the 18th East Asian Summit
On the morning of September 7th local time, Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the 18th East Asian Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Li Qiang stated that in recent decades, East Asia has seized the opportunities of the times in the tide of economic globalization, firmly embarked on the path of open development and win-win cooperation, and has become an important engine for promoting world development. We deeply understand the difficulty of development, the necessity of openness, and the preciousness of peace. We also have a firsthand experience of the principle that unity leads to prosperity and division leads to decline.
Li Qiang pointed out that in the face of new situations and challenges, the East Asia Summit should continue to adhere to its own positioning and play a greater role in achieving long-term stability and lasting prosperity in the region:
One is to better play a role in promoting development and stimulate regional growth vitality. Apply more wisdom and strength to seek cooperation and promote development, adhere to economic globalization, and continue to promote the construction of the Asia Pacific Free Trade Area. The second is to better play the role of strategic dialogue and enhance mutual understanding and trust among all parties.The third is to better leverage the leading role of ASEAN and jointly promote inclusive and mutually beneficial cooperation. To maximize consideration of the demands of all parties, inclusiveness of their interests, and better realization of complementary advantages and cohesion.
Li Qiang stated that China and ASEAN countries are actively promoting consultations on the "Code of Conduct for the South China Sea".Marine pollution has a profound impact, and we must protect the marine ecological environment with a responsible attitude towards history and humanity, guarding the "blue heart" of the earth.
Li Qiang emphasized that China will adhere to the basic national policy of opening up to the outside world and continue to share development opportunities with other countries. We welcome all parties to actively participate in the third the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
The attending leaders stated that peace and stability are the key to development and prosperity. Regional countries should uphold the role of the East Asia Summit as a strategic forum led by leaders, practice multilateralism, strengthen constructive dialogue, work together to address global challenges such as climate change, public health, energy, and food security, create regional cooperation platforms and growth centers, and promote regional and world peace and sustainable development.
