Fined 270000 yuan, Inner Mongolia University cafeteria used duck meat to impersonate beef and mutton
On September 4th, according to reports from the public, the Market Supervision Administration of Yuquan District, Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia, investigated and concluded the case of the East Campus Canteen of Inner Mongolia University using duck meat to impersonate beef and mutton to provide catering services, and issued an administrative penalty notice to Inner Mongolia University.
After investigation, the cafeteria on the second floor, stalls 2, 9, 11, and 12 on the third floor of the East Campus of Inner Mongolia University, as well as the halal restaurant, have been using duck meat to impersonate beef or lamb to cook dishes and provide catering services since March 10, 2023. At the time of seizure, the total revenue from using duck meat to impersonate beef or lamb to cook dishes at the above-mentioned stalls was 16374 yuan, and the illegal revenue of 16374 yuan was recognized as illegal income.
Administrative Penalty Notice
The behavior of using duck meat to impersonate beef or mutton to cook dishes and provide catering services at the cafeteria on the second and third floors of the East Campus of Inner Mongolia University's South Campus, as well as some halal restaurants, is suspected of violating Article 23 (2) of the Consumer Rights Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, and constitutes fraudulent behavior of using duck meat to impersonate beef or mutton to provide catering services. According to Article 56 (1) (2) (1) of the Consumer Rights Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and Article 124 (2) (1) of the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, the penalties for the illegal acts of the parties involved are as follows: confiscation of illegal gains of 16374 yuan; Fine 270000 yuan.

According to relevant personnel from the Market Supervision Bureau of Yuquan District, Hohhot City, if Inner Mongolia University fails to exercise its right to make statements, defend itself, or request a hearing within five working days from the date of receiving this notice, it shall be deemed to have waived this right, and the market supervision department shall issue a penalty decision.
