CCTV reporter visits | Chinese builder: I am building a high-speed railway in Indonesia
Over the course of several years, engineering and technical personnel from China, in close cooperation with Indonesian colleagues, have used their wisdom and sweat, relying on a pair of hardworking hands, to build a Chinese standard, Chinese made high-speed railway on Indonesian land. What are the unknown processes involved in the construction of high-speed rail, and what technological difficulties have been overcome?
The Jakarta Bandung high-speed railway connects the Indonesian capital Jakarta to Bandung, with a total length of 142.3 kilometers. Leaving the starting station of Halim Railway Station in Jakarta, the Jakarta Bandung high-speed railway first embarked on a major project, the 35.8-kilometer-long No. 2 Grand Bridge, which accounts for a full quarter of the entire Jakarta Bandung high-speed railway.
Zeng Yichen, 34 years old from Hunan, is one of the leaders of the No. 2 Grand Bridge project. Building such a mega bridge is a significant challenge for him. Firstly, the location of this super large bridge is adjacent to the existing Jakarta to Bandung highway, spanning three levels of highway ramps. The main pier is only 20 centimeters away from the highway ramp, and the construction space is narrow. It is the most complex and most difficult control project in the construction environment of the entire line, which is greatly affected by external interference.

Zeng Yichen, the person in charge of the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Railway No. 2 Grand Bridge project in Indonesia, said: Because during construction, we need to ensure the smooth progress of the project, but we cannot obstruct the passage of the highway. The highway on this side needs to pass normally, and our construction also needs to proceed normally. Therefore, we have experienced a lot of traffic congestion during the construction process.
In addition to ensuring that highway traffic is not affected, the construction of bridges also fully meets the unique design needs of the local area. The 35.8-kilometer super large bridge adopts different designs and processes in different sections of the bridge deck according to the different train design speeds, achieving seamless connection between ballasted and ballastless tracks.
CCTV reporter Tang Xin: This is the No. 2 super large bridge of the Yawan high-speed railway. Walking on the bridge deck, we can see two completely different bridge surfaces. In terms of construction, due to the different speed design requirements of the Yawan high-speed railway, different processes and methods were also adopted in the bridge construction process, which also brought significant challenges to the bridge construction.

Zeng Yichen, the project manager of Indonesia's Jakarta Bandung High Speed Rail No.2 Extra Large Bridge, said that there are 23 continuous beams and 1018 precast beams located on the same bridge. The precast beams are also divided into ballasted and unballasted sections in the middle, which is also a very rare extra large bridge at the domestic level.
Leaving the No. 2 Grand Bridge, we arrived at the No. 17 Grand Bridge of the Yawan High Speed Rail, which spans the river with the highest flow and widest riverbed on the entire Yawan High Speed Rail line. The geological and hydrological environment here is complex, and the river floods every year with thick sediment at the bottom, which also poses many challenges for Chinese builders.
Zhang Jinke, the project manager of the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Railway No. 17 Grand Bridge in Indonesia: During the underwater construction process, we innovatively proposed a lock type steel pipe pile cofferdam, which is our innovative construction method on this bridge. Avoiding water is equivalent to excavating the foundation in deep water, and cannot be carried out underwater. It is equivalent to forming a relatively dry land. Yes.

Zhang Jinke said that the construction of the Yawan high-speed railway has made China's technology more advanced and internationalized when going abroad.
Zhang Jinke, the person in charge of the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Railway No. 17 Grand Bridge project in Indonesia: When we contracted international projects, we used to use foreign standards. The Yawan high-speed railway is completely Chinese standard, Chinese technology, and made in China. In the future, it can also be imported to the world, so that high-speed railways around the world are based on Chinese standards and Chinese manufacturing.
During the years of the construction of the Yawan high-speed railway, these Chinese builders spent most of their time at the project site, rarely returning home to reunite with their families. Nowadays, with the completion of the project, many people are also leaving the Yawan high-speed railway, and their common wish is to have the opportunity to take their family to sit on the Yawan high-speed railway they have built themselves in the future.

Zeng Yichen, the person in charge of the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Railway No. 2 Grand Bridge project in Indonesia: Speaking of reluctance, I just want to see if I can come and sit down with my wife and children in the future. My child is 5 years old.
Zhang Jinke, the person in charge of the Jakarta Bandung High Speed Railway No. 17 Grand Bridge project in Indonesia: Speaking of this, he owes a lot to his family and has hardly participated in the growth of his children. When I have time, I will take him through every project I have participated in and let him feel where his father worked or lived.
