501 new cases added! The latest report from China National Center for Disease Control and Prevention!
On September 8th, the official website of the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention released the "Monitoring of Monkeypox Epidemic in August 2023".
From August 1st to 31st, 2023, China reported 501 new confirmed cases of monkeypox, including 95 in Guangdong, 77 in Zhejiang, 54 in Beijing, 54 in Sichuan, 32 in Shanghai, 29 in Jiangsu, 21 in Guangxi, 13 in Tianjin, 13 in Hunan, 13 in Henan, 12 in Chongqing, 12 in Anhui, 11 in Yunnan, 11 in Hubei, 10 in Shandong, 7 in Shaanxi, 7 in Hebei, 7 in Fujian, 6 in Heilongjiang, 5 in Jilin, 4 in Shanxi, 3 in Inner Mongolia, 2 in Liaoning, 2 in Guizhou, and 1 in Jiangxi. There were no severe cases or deaths.
According to epidemiological investigation and analysis, the epidemic presents the following characteristics: firstly, 98.9% of the cases are male, and 92.5% of the cases are clearly male behavior population. Secondly, there were 5 females in the case who had a history of heterosexual contact within 21 days before the onset of the disease. The likelihood of infection through heterosexual contact was high. Among the heterosexual partners, 3 were monkeypox infected, 1 had a recent history of rash, and 1 had no monkeypox related symptoms. Thirdly, the risk of transmission through other contact methods is low. Only one person in close contact other than sexual contact has contracted the infection. The fourth is that 93.2% of cases were discovered through active medical visits, 5.3% were discovered through close contact tracing and screening, and the rest were discovered through active reporting and physical examinations. The fifth is that the clinical manifestations of the vast majority of cases are typical, mainly including fever, herpes, lymphadenopathy and other symptoms, with no severe cases or deaths.
