144 people were injured, and the once-in-a-century rainstorm in Hong Kong basically ended
Influenced by the residual low pressure trough of typhoon "Hai Kui", Hong Kong suffered the heavy rainstorm once in a century. Since the evening of the 7th, rainstorm has been falling in all regions of Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Observatory issued a black rainstorm warning signal late in the night of the 7th, and water accumulated in many regions of Hong Kong. At 16:45 on September 8, the rainstorm warning signals were cancelled by the Hong Kong Observatory, and the longest rainstorm ever recorded in Hong Kong came to an end. What is the situation in Hong Kong after the record breaking rainstorm? Let's take a look at the report sent back by the CCTV reporter from the scene.
Head office reporter Liu Zhimin: I am now located in the semi underground parking lot of a shopping mall in Huancui Estate, Chai Wan, Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Observatory has cancelled all thunderstorm warning signals, but we can see from this underground parking lot that this once-in-a-century rainstorm has had a significant impact on many parts of Hong Kong. The parking lot I am in is muddy with a lot of debris piled up on the ground. My height is about 1.7 meters, and this beam is about 2 meters high. It can be estimated that this rainstorm will cause a flooding depth of at least 2 meters for this parking lot. At present, most of the cars in the parking lot have been removed, and there are still some vehicles parked in the parking lot. I just saw many muddy roads on the ground, and many workers are using water to flush the ground. We are also looking forward to Hong Kong's return to normal soon.
The Hong Kong Medical Authority said on the evening of the 8th that as of 20:15 on the same day, 144 citizens had been injured during the rainstorm and went to the emergency room of the public hospital for consultation.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Hospital Authority also stated that general and specialist clinics will resume on the 9th, and the Shau Kei Wan Clinic will be suspended.
The Home Affairs Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has opened 15 temporary shelters for those in need, with a total of 335 people staying.
