Investigate the persons involved in the case, report on abnormal water quality in Chuhe River in Anhui: source of pollution determined
On the morning of May 27, the Ecological Environment Bureau of Chuzhou City, Anhui Province issued a briefing on media reports that the water quality of Chuhe River was polluted and fish and shrimp were dead.
According to on-site investigation, it was found that there were dead fish floating on the water surface in the section from Huangcaoxu to Xianghekou Gate in Quanjiao County of Chuhe River and in the Pukou section of Nanjing City, and the water in some river sections turned black. After monitoring and traceability, Chuzhou Fuxin Petroleum Auxiliary Co., Ltd. located in Quanjiao Economic Development Zone was the main source of pollution.
At 19:50 on May 7, a fire broke out in the company's warehouse, causing part of the stored glycerin and molasses, together with firefighting wastewater, to enter nearby ditches and pipe networks through surface runoff. Quanjiao County collects, stores and disposes of leaked pollutants in a centralized manner through measures such as building dams to intercept and drain pollutants.
On May 11, about 50 millimeters of rainfall occurred in Quanjiao County. The sewage remaining in ditches and pipe networks that had not yet been cleaned entered the Xiang River and Chu River through rainwater runoff, causing the water in some river sections to be turbid, black and smelly, and the dissolved oxygen dropped. Fish and shrimp died.
After the incident, the city and county took measures to close the Chahe River Gate and Xianghekou Gate to intercept the polluted water bodies; conduct comprehensive inspections of the polluted river sections and conduct harmless treatment of dead fish and shrimp; and set up 7 monitoring points on the Chuhe River. , 2 full-component monitoring points, and 4 agricultural water quality safety monitoring points, continue to carry out water quality monitoring, and set up aeration devices based on the monitoring results to increase the oxygen content of the water body. The public security organs have launched an investigation into the relevant persons involved.
According to monitoring results from May 23 to 26, the water quality of polluted water bodies continues to improve.
