During the Spring Festival, short-distance travel is particularly popular. In this year’s Spring Festival self-driving traffic, there is a significant new trend, which is the increasing number of new energy vehicles. What are the new changes in travel in the Year of the Dragon? The reporter’s observation started from a service area on the highway.
Meicun Service Area in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, located at the overlapping section of Beijing-Shanghai Expressway and Hurong-Chengdu Expressway, is one of the busiest expressway service areas in the country during this Spring Festival. The reporter here saw that the new energy vehicle charging area was full of vehicles. Not only the fixed charging piles were working, but mobile charging vehicles and charging robots were also shuttled back and forth in the parking lot.
Ding Ye, a staff member of the State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Company: In order to cope with the surge in charging demand during the Spring Festival, we have built 8 new fast charging piles here, and also deployed a multi-functional energy storage charging vehicle, and 3 charging stations robot.
During the Spring Festival this year, the average daily charging capacity in the Meicun service area reached 18,000 kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 70%. Li Ting, who has worked in this service area for 18 years, told reporters that the first charging pile put into use at national highways in 2015 was here. During the Spring Festival that year, this charging pile only charged 19 new energy vehicles in seven days. During this Spring Festival, such a charging pile will serve more than 30 new energy vehicles a day on average.
Li Ting, Director of the Comprehensive Office of the Wuxi Meicun Service Area of the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway: There is basically no time to rest. It is 15 times the number in 2015.
Not only are there more and more new energy vehicles, but they are also traveling farther and farther. During the Spring Festival this year, reporters met many travelers who were traveling far away in pure electric vehicles for the first time.
Passenger Mr. Ding: I am on my way from Wuxi to Anhui Huangshan today. After charging for more than 20 minutes, it is basically full, and I am about to set off now.
This Spring Festival, people drive new energy vehicles and draw a green Spring Festival travel trajectory. There are 21,000 charging piles scattered on highways all over the country. From New Year's Eve to the third day of the Lunar New Year, the cumulative charging capacity on highways across the country has reached 49.9 million kilowatt hours.
This Spring Festival, people’s travel methods are not only greener, but also more convenient.
Tibet Alipuran Airport, Hunan Xiangxi Border Town Airport, Henan Anyang Hongqiqu Airport, Sichuan Nanchong Langzhong Ancient City Airport, and Shanxi Shuozhou Zirun Airport.
