The "Walking Five Education Classroom" expands the space for extracurricular learning and practice, with over 260 high school students entering the university campus to experience Xuhui District | universities | university campuses

Today, the "Walking Five Education Classroom" 2023 Xuhui District High School Student Summer Camp opened, with 265 Xuhui high school students visiting the Chinese Language and Literature Department, History Department, Philosophy School, etc. of Fudan University, School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, School of Civil Engineering of Tongji University, School of Biological Engineering of East China University of Science and Technology, School of Ecology and Environmental Science of East China Normal University, and School of Sociology of Shanghai University to experience activities. This summer camp is also the first time that Xuhui District has collectively organized high school students to go to universities for study tours.

Students embark on a summer journey, gaining an early understanding of university disciplines and university life, entering society, walking in a wider classroom, and gaining unique growth. Today's summer camp brings together high-quality resources from six universities, including Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, East China University of Science and Technology, East China Normal University, and Shanghai University. Three major sections and six lesson experiential courses were designed throughout the day, all taught by professors from various universities. Several professors have collected feedback and opinions from their classmates in advance for today's lecture. Through a day long activity, students can experience the atmosphere of university, understand the academic research and professional development directions of different disciplines, gain valuable subject experiences and planning suggestions, and provide motivation for their future high school career, helping them grow comprehensively.

Chinese high school sophomore student Hang Congren participated in the Ecological and Environmental Project Team of the Guangqi Youth Innovation Education Base organized by the Xuhui District Youth Activity Center during his first year of high school. In his first year of high school, he came to the Youth Activity Center in Xuhui District every Saturday afternoon to participate in activities, and often went to the School of Ecology and Environmental Science at East China Normal University and various ecological bases to study. He gained a lot, and sometimes even felt like he was already a college student. Under the leadership of professors from East China Normal University, the courses offered by the Innovation Education Base are diverse and cover a wide range of topics, including rainwater collection, soil safety, garbage classification, and observation and protection of wetland flora and fauna. From a superficial understanding of flowers and plants, I have gained a new understanding of the discipline of ecology and environment through subject knowledge learning, field investigations, experimental exploration, etc., gradually realizing the diversity and richness of this discipline. Under the leadership of the professors, the students also attempted to conduct research projects and learned the methods of scientific thinking, laying a solid and effective foundation for entering university in the future. For this summer camp for high school students, Hangcong people chose the School of Civil Engineering at Tongji University, hoping to broaden their personal horizons, understand different disciplines, and experience the charm of different disciplines. "After the summer vacation, we will enter the third year of high school. I believe that these growth experiences will be an important reference for me to choose university disciplines in the future, and I also believe that this summer camp can inspire us to strive towards our own goals." said Hang Congren.

In 2021, the Education Bureau of Xuhui District signed a cooperation agreement with the Student Innovation Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the School of Ecology and Environmental Science of East China Normal University, the School of Biotechnology of East China University of Science and Technology, and the School of Sociology of Shanghai University, aiming to improve the construction of the Guangqi Youth Innovation Base in Xuhui District by benchmarking university resources. With the support of the Xuhui Youth Activity Center, three flexible educational systems of innovation training camp, learning camp, and incubation camp will be established, and the allocation of teaching staff such as "university professional professors - school specialty teachers - project management teachers" will be strengthened, making the connection between basic education, science and innovation education, and universities closer. This year, Xuhui Education has integrated high-quality university resources to promote educational development, built a platform for learning and communication. Building on previous collaborations with universities, this summer camp has added Fudan University and Tongji University, bringing together six well-known universities. Students are carefully organized to participate in experiential activities at universities, expanding the space for extracurricular learning and practice for high school students, improving their comprehensive quality and practical abilities, exploring new ways of education, and promoting high-quality development of education. Yao Lihong, Secretary of the Education Work Party Committee of Xuhui District, said that the summer camp for high school students is also an innovation and practice of extracurricular activities outside of Xuhui District.
