Go to the Shanghai Arts and Crafts Museum to experience the “Ancient Charm Reflected by Silk”
June 8 is the 2024 Cultural and Natural Heritage Day. In the Shanghai Museum of Arts and Crafts, No. 79 Fenyang Road, the "Silk Reflection of Ancient Rhythm - 2024 Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Project Protection Achievements Exhibition" was officially opened.
The exhibition is jointly organized by the Shanghai Arts and Crafts Museum, Shanghai Songjiang Gu Embroidery Research Institute, Shanghai Sanlin Embroidery Art Co., Ltd., Shanghai Arts and Crafts Co., Ltd. Arts and Crafts Research Institute, and Shanghai Shanlin Business Consulting Co., Ltd.
Embroidery has a history of more than 2,500 years, and various schools have been formed during the development of history. In this exhibition, more than 40 outstanding works were jointly exhibited by Gu Embroidery, a national intangible cultural heritage project, Sanlin Embroidery, and Shanghai Silk Embroidery, a Shanghai municipal intangible cultural heritage project. The exhibition not only shows the public the results of Shanghai's research and inheritance of embroidery in recent years, but also contributes to the spread of Shanghai-style culture.
As the main material for embroidery, silk thread not only has flexibility, delicate texture and natural luster, but also shows rich color and texture changes. Embroidery works made with silk thread show fine workmanship, elegance, and superb character. These four qualities are not only the character of the embroidery work, but also the character of the embroiderer. The organizer stated that the exhibition uses a new language to construct the silk-like spiritual landscape of the times and reconstruct the relationship between silk thread, embroidery techniques, embroiderers and contemporary life.
During the exhibition, the audience has the opportunity to appreciate these precious intangible cultural heritage works up close and appreciate the unique visual effects of the "picturesque scene". The organizer will also hold lectures, experience activities, etc. to enrich the depth of the exhibition.
