On the evening of June 18th, the Minhang District Citizen Dance Creation Competition award performance was held at the new theater of Shanghai Theatre Academy, and square dance teams jumped onto the stage from the community. The exhibition, with the theme of "Dancing in Shencheng, Everyone Strikes Excellence", is hosted by the Minhang District Cultural and Tourism Bureau, Pujin Street Office, and Xinhong Street Office. After grassroots selection, training and polishing, and competition between the north and south regions, 9 outstanding teams finally entered the award and performance stage.

Since 2013, Minhang has incorporated square dance into the grassroots social governance work system. Through hardware facilities renovation, guiding team self-management, improving institutional support, and building exhibition platforms, square dance activities, which were previously regarded as stubborn urban management problems, have been transformed into effective support for urban social governance. Over the past decade, mass dance has taken root and sprouted in Minhang. The Minhang Square Dance Team has started from community squares and made brilliant appearances on major stages such as rural village evenings, Shanghai Choir Festival, CCTV Spring Festival Gala, and National Star Awards. The outstanding works in this year's Minhang District Citizen Dance Creation Competition are inseparable from the efforts of a group of young people. The Minhang District Mass Art Museum has collaborated with Shanghai Normal University for the first time to establish the Shanghai Normal University Dance Troupe Art Practice Base in Minhang, introducing dance students from universities and providing professional guidance to the Minhang Citizen Dance Team.
In May, 28 students who were about to graduate from the Directing major at Shanghai Normal University were divided into four groups and joined the Minhang Square Dance competition team to provide guidance to dance teams from multiple street towns such as Xinhong, Pujin, Zhuanqiao, and Maqiao. They polish the originality and artistry of square dance works while strengthening the artistic aesthetics and cultural literacy of the square dance team members. With a dual approach, square dancing has undergone a complete transformation.
