Release time:Jun 08, 2024 17:17 PM

According to a Reuters report on June 7, a TV station affiliated with the Houthi organization in Yemen stated that the United States and British troops carried out six air strikes on targets in Yemen on the 7th.

Masirah TV reported that four of the attacks targeted the airport in the main Red Sea port city of Hodeidah and the northern seaport of Salif, while the other two air strikes hit the revolutionary area north of the Yemeni capital Sanaa.

The Houthis have been launching attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea since November as a show of solidarity with the Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas, triggering retaliatory strikes from the United States and Britain since February.

The report also stated that the Houthis said on the 7th that they attacked two ships in the Red Sea with drones and missiles.

Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a televised address that the group attacked the El Bella container ship and the Genoa cargo ship with "several drones, ballistic missiles and naval missiles."

The report mentioned that Sarea did not specify the date of the attack. However, Reuters did not receive any reports on the incident in the Red Sea on the 7th.

Eastern Mediterranean Shipping Company, operator of the Maltese-flagged Elbella container ship, declined to comment. Reuters could not immediately contact the owner or operator of the Cyprus-flagged cargo ship Genoa.
