Gu Zheng, Vice Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Beijing Institute of Printing, said, "People usually think that reading refers to reading paper books. So, is watching short videos considered reading? We need to redefine the concept of reading. There are many knowledge sharing bloggers active on short video platforms, and their content is both professional and interesting, which is a new form of knowledge dissemination. From this perspective, watching knowledge related short videos may refer to the concept of listening to books and be included in the concept of reading."
Gu Zheng also affirmed the positive role of short videos in promoting knowledge sharing and promoting public reading. He pointed out that many short video creators mainly focus on book sharing and recommending good books. Gu Zheng suggests exploring and developing "extremely detailed tracks" in the field of knowledge dissemination.
