The "Urban Change Diabetes China-Dan Roundtable" with the theme of "Driving Change and Building a Healthier City" was held in Shanghai recently. The Roundtable launched the 'Cities Changing Diabetes' Community Action Initiative ". It is proposed to carry out specific actions from the aspects of strong concept of health science popularization, wide support of health environment, and health management to promote change, so as to build a health supporting environment, so as to promote community residents to strengthen early intervention and health management of diabetes.
It is reported that the "City Change Diabetes" community action initiative includes a total of 9 specific initiatives. Kong Lingzhi, executive vice president and secretary-general of the China Health Promotion and Education Association, introduced that these measures are aimed at guiding the community to make improvements in health science popularization, healthy environment, and health management. Community is the cell of the city and the basic carrier of urban lifestyle, which has an important impact on the development of people's healthy lifestyle and the early intervention of common diseases.
According to the World Diabetes Map published by the International Diabetes Federation, the number of adult diabetics worldwide will reach 0.537 billion in 2021, with a prevalence rate of 10.5 per cent; compared to 2019, the number of patients has increased by 74 million per cent, or 16 per cent. The challenges posed by diabetes have become a growing concern, and the Urban Change Diabetes Project has emerged. Jia Weiping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the National Primary Diabetes Prevention and Management Office, introduced, "The prevention and control of chronic diseases is of great significance for the health of individuals, the health of cities and the sustainable development of cities. 'Driving change' is to continuously improve public policies, cooperation models, disease prevention, healthy environment and lifestyle, and continue to promote the health of cities and residents."
According to Jia Weiping, "The community can effectively improve the awareness rate of diabetes and the rate of standardized management of patients by building a healthy supportive environment, cooperating with health institutions to carry out screening and management of high-risk groups, and carrying out health promotion and education. In addition, the community is also the main place for diabetes self-management education and support."
Zhang Hao, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission and director of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention, said that diabetes prevention and treatment is a comprehensive systematic project. In recent years, Shanghai has actively built a comprehensive diabetes prevention and control system of "integration of medical and prevention", comprehensively improved the ability of community diabetes diagnosis and treatment key indicators, and implemented detailed diabetes risk screening and fine management. Zhang Hao pointed out that in the next step, Shanghai will continue to promote the "people-centered" strategy of co-prevention of chronic diseases and multiple diseases, and provide the public with full, standardized, and integrated chronic disease health management services. At the same time, it will actively promote the government, society, individuals and families. Participate together to build a healthy city conducive to the prevention and treatment of diabetes.
