In April this year, with the joint efforts of media and cultural and historical workers in Xiamen, two more anti-Japanese aviation heroes were confirmed to be women. One of them was Guo Cailing, a returned overseas Chinese from Vietnam, and the other was Hou Ziqin, a sports student from Chongqing University.
Guo Cailing, a native of Tong'an, Fujian, was a student in a gliding training class. She died in a crash while practicing gliding on Fenghuang Mountain in Chengdu on April 20, 1943. She was only 22 years old. Xiamen cultural and historical workers found a newspaper on January 8, 1943. The article "Visiting the Gliding Class" published in it read: "The eldest daughter is Guo Cailing, a Chinese-Vietnamese mixed-race daughter. She is nostalgic for her motherland and also misses her time in Vietnam. Parents and brothers..."
