On the evening of July 5th Beijing time, F1 officially announced the 2024 season schedule, and the Chinese Grand Prix will be held from April 19th to 21st, 2024 at the Shanghai International Circuit.
According to the race schedule, compared to this season, Japan Station has been moved to the fourth station of the year, while Azerbaijan Station has been adjusted to before Singapore Station. Spain Station and Canada Station have also switched positions, while Qatar Station has been moved to the second to last station.
On September 24-26, 2004, the first F1 race in China was held at the Shanghai International Circuit. On the day of the final, 146000 spectators flocked to the Shanghai International Circuit to witness Ferrari's Brazilian driver Rubens Barrichello ultimately win the championship. Since 2004, the Shanghai International Circuit has been the only venue for the F1 China Grand Prix. In 2013, the International Automobile Federation commented in its year-end publication that the Shanghai International Circuit had become the central stage for hosting world automotive sports events.

In 2019, the global F1 1000 stops settled in Shencheng. At the pre race opening ceremony, world-renowned drivers such as Hamilton, Raikkonen, and Vettel jointly said "Shanghai, Let's Meet!" to the global audience in the "1000 stops, in Shanghai" city image promotional video, highlighting the important position of China's Shanghai in the F1 world map.
2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Shanghai International Circuit. The upper track has obtained a new round of FIA Level 1 track certification at the beginning of this year, and is qualified to host F1 races.
