The Shanghai Tomorrow Star Champions Cup Football Tournament focuses on the development of youth football and was first held in 2022. The aim is to create a "high standing, high standard, and high standard" youth football tournament, solidify the football soil, and cultivate more youth football talents. This competition will be divided into two groups for a round robin round robin, followed by a cross elimination round robin based on group ranking to determine the final champion. A total of 20 matches will provide excellent practical training opportunities and international exchange platforms for each participating team.
"For Manchester City, youth training has always been a priority for the club's development. This is a great platform for our team to learn, grow, and engage in dialogue with high-level opponents from Asia and Europe while traveling internationally," said Mandes, the head of City Football Group's China region
"This competition provides young Chinese football players with the opportunity to communicate with foreign strong teams from a young age, to understand our shortcomings and discover the direction we are moving forward in the competition. We also hope that more and more international strong teams will come to Shanghai for exchanges in the future," said Liu Haiguang, President of the Shanghai Football Association.
