Scoliosis has become the third major killer affecting adolescent health, following obesity and myopia. Data shows that the incidence rate of scoliosis in China is about 1% -2.7%. Among 300 million children and adolescents in China, more than 5 million people have scoliosis. The "Healthy China 2030" Plan Outline lists scoliosis as a disease for adolescent physical examination screening and monitoring. Recently, the student charity organization "Kangshi Yizhan" from Shanghai Sport University went to Taihe County, Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province to carry out the "Continuation of Red Blood, Strengthening of National Backbone - Youth Spinal Health Public Welfare Service Summer Special Action".
As a public welfare volunteer team initiated by the student team of Shanghai Sport University and recruiting experts in this field, "Kangtai Yizhan" is committed to addressing adolescent spinal health issues and providing timely and effective exercise rehabilitation treatment. Team members rely on professional subject knowledge, with a high sense of responsibility, actively participate in public welfare activities, and transform their professional skills into social value. Dedicated to delving into the areas where our country needs the most and providing spinal health services for local children, Red Army Primary School is a rural central primary school with all the red genes inherited. The team members of this event will organically integrate spinal health public welfare with local red culture, helping to "strengthen the national backbone".
In recent years, factors such as high-intensity learning pressure, lack of exercise, poor sleep quality, and environmental changes have led to an increase in the number and severity of scoliosis in children and adolescents in China. Early symptoms of scoliosis are not significant and do not affect daily life, making it easy for parents to overlook. During the period of growth and development, scoliosis can worsen with age, and in mild cases, it can lead to scoliosis in children's thoracic and lumbar vertebrae. If not intervened in time, the spine may compress tissues and organs, or develop into serious spinal deformities, which can have a huge impact on the function and development of the heart and lungs, and even result in spinal cord compression and paralysis. Therefore, it is imperative to intervene in adolescent spinal health.
In this activity, the team members of "Kang State Yi Stack" explained spinal related knowledge to the children of Red Army Elementary School, taught them how to protect their spine, and used the independently developed Ispine 3D body examination instrument to evaluate the children's scoliosis posture. The team's professional sports trainer led the children to experience spinal health exercises.
The student welfare organization of Shanghai Sport University's "Kang Xing Yi Tan" has repeatedly visited revolutionary old areas, mountainous areas, and other places, actively promoting the concept of active spinal health. By helping teenagers measure and correct scoliosis problems, it strengthens their physical fitness and practices the goal of "standing up the national spine".
