Enable everyone to achieve their dreams

Reno Ed: It's too difficult to summarize in one sentence. The Chengdu Universiade is very exciting, allowing each of us to achieve our dreams, truly making all of our dreams come true. Our dreams as the International Sports Federation, as well as the dreams of major associations and athletes, have all been realized.

Reno Ed: I can't compare with cities before and after because everyone's resources are different. But when I came to Chengdu this time, I think the Universiade was really wonderful. It was really great for the athletes and the audience, and we had nothing to complain about. I can see that the official preparations are very good. Our facilities and venues are first-class, and the personnel are also very enthusiastic. The volunteers are the best, and the service for the Universiade is flawless. Special thanks to Chengdu, thank you very much.

Eric Senchao: Many people have never been to China or Chengdu before, and for them, coming to Chengdu is a very innovative experience. The atmosphere, preparation, enthusiasm, and everything we have experienced, whether it's athletes, officials, or delegations, really leave a deep impression on us.

This has brought about another significant change in our impression of China. Whether it's the citizens of Chengdu, volunteers, or all the staff, the work you've done is really great. I think these are unforgettable memories and important commemorations for us.

Chengdu leaves an unforgettable impression

Reno Ed: I hope more people can come to Sichuan and Chengdu, see what's happening here, and listen to the stories of the people here. I think this first-hand information will definitely change people's views on this city and this country. I hope Chinese friends can also go to other places to see. For example, going to see the host city of the next Universiade, or other host cities of the Universiade, I think this is really a very good platform. Moreover, our experience in Chengdu is very rich, and it makes us very happy. I think hosting the Universiade here is also a blessing for us.

Eric Senchao: In the 1990s, I first came to China, and it is estimated that many people here have not yet been born. Due to the 2001 Beijing Universiade, we were able to engage in exchanges between China and the world, making it the first comprehensive sports event held in China. Afterwards, China further opened up to the outside world. In 2011, we saw the Shenzhen Universiade, and then we saw the Chengdu Universiade being held.

Now China is a very open country, and due to the pandemic, we have postponed the hosting of the Chengdu Universiade twice. Originally, we thought we would be a closed loop sports event like the Tokyo Olympics and Beijing Winter Olympics, but now we see it is different. My friends and I can both walk down the street to eat hot pot, go to the suburbs, and we can see many art galleries and museums, which are very nice. Our Universiade Village is also open, and it is great for us to step out of the village and experience Chinese culture. It cannot be said that we are just training and competing, Chengdu has left us with an unforgettable impression.

Becoming a future template demonstration

Reno Ed: I'm like Sen Chao. He came to Chengdu in 2019, and I only came to China later. I see that there are over 1500 parks in Chengdu, and there are many security personnel who will help me. We see a lot of green and low-carbon elements in Chengdu, including electric vehicles and many green vehicles. China is now very developed and has many sustainable technologies that can protect the environment. We attach great importance to environmental protection and sustainable development of the world. This is a very important commitment for our future. Young people are future leaders, and you must ensure a safe and healthy world. One day, we will all die, but others will still live. Therefore, we need to make this world a sustainable development.

Eric Senchao: Chengdu has proven to the world that this city can do its best to host a top tier event. In 2025, it will be hosted by Germany, followed by South Korea, and then the United States, which will host the 2029 Universiade.

I think Chengdu will be a very good example, which can tell these countries how to host a Universiade with high quality. Not only do we have a lot of Chinese characteristics, but all of our organizations, organizers, and volunteers have done very, very well, which is worth learning from.

To sum up, I think the Chengdu Universiade will be a template and demonstration for future Universiades, as such a template can help us prove that we can still produce very, very excellent Universiades after two postponements. Not only our infrastructure, but also our equipment and these venues are all excellent. Not only these, but also all the staff, as well as my colleagues who have worked with me for 3 years, everyone is very good. We want to achieve any dream, any achievement, we can do it. We can think of it and do it. The Universiade is so exciting.
