Passing Love to the Pamir Plateau, Shanghai's "Tourism Veterans" Leading the City's "Micro Tourism" City | Shanghai | Veterans

On May 18th of this year, International Museum Day, the Shanghai Museum of History signed a cooperation agreement with Chunqiu Travel Agency, focusing on the pilot program of "museums opening up guided tours to certified tour guides". After assessment, excellent tour guides from Chunqiu will join the tour guide team with certificates, bringing vivid interpretations of Shanghai's urban development and changes to citizens and tourists.

In early July, the first batch of tour guides who passed the assessment gave a trial lecture at Libo, and an important "examiner" who was the main promoter of this cooperation, Zhou Weihong, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Chunqiu International Travel Agency Co., Ltd. As a veteran of the tourism industry with 28 years of experience, Zhou Weihong has not only witnessed the development of Shanghai and China's tourism industry, but has also delved deeper into local resources in recent years, leading the exploration of cultural and tourism integration projects such as "urban micro tourism", "architecture readable", and "Shanghai style urban archaeology". And in the Pamir Plateau thousands of miles away, she is the warm and friendly "Shanghai mother" in the hearts of the sponsored children.

From personally promoting the development of China's tourism industry, to conveying goodwill from Shanghai through the "Warm Pamir" project, and now leading a team to showcase Shanghai's urban spirit and culture to the world, Zhou Weihong's original intention has remained unchanged: to strive to showcase Shanghai's history, culture, temperament, spirit, and many beautiful moments to more people.

"Warmth Pamir" conveys love

On the eve of summer vacation, Zhou Weihong, as a representative, announced to the public the latest summer tourism charter flight plan for Spring and Autumn tourism this year: from July to August, it is expected to launch 289 tourism charter flights. Among them, in addition to the previously announced Xigaze in Xizang and Kashgar in Xinjiang, the domestic destinations also launched Golog in Qinghai, Turpan in Xinjiang, Manzhouli in Inner Mongolia, Changbai Mountain in Jilin, Zhangjiajie in Hunan, and other new destinations. Once the news was released, it was widely concerned by consumers and the industry both inside and outside.

This is not the first time that Zhou Weihong has led the company team to promote a project with great love. In 2011, she led the establishment of the public welfare project "Warm Pamir" for the Pamir Plateau in Kashgar, Xinjiang. Over the past 12 years, she has supported hundreds of students with nearly 3 million yuan in funding. Last year, "Warmth Pamir" set up a scholarship for Shigatse Shanghai Experimental School in Xizang to award 30 students who are excellent in character and learning to complete their studies every year. This year, the project collaborates with Huayang Road Street in Changning District to provide targeted tourism funds for young people in the street area, broaden their horizons, and enhance their understanding and perception of the motherland.

"Warmth Pamir" originated from a business trip of Zhou Weihong. In 2011, she went to live on the Pamir Plateau for a week for a shoot. There, Zhou Weihong first saw a world that seemed somewhat unfamiliar to her - although material life was not very rich, the children there were still strong, optimistic, and had an unexpected thirst for knowledge. Amidst shock and emotion, Zhou Weihong, who has always been an activist, began to push for the opening of the "Warm Pamir" project.

Chen Xiaolu, Director of the Spring and Autumn Tourism Office, is the specific executor of the "Warm Pamir" project. She always remembers the first day she took on this project, when Zhou Weihong said, "With a beautiful heart, do something beautiful." Compared to the past decade, it has been Zhou Weihong and her colleagues who have been visiting the children in the Pamir Plateau. In July of this year, Spring and Autumn Tourism will hold the first "Pamir and Shanghai" public welfare summer camp in 2023, inviting these lovely children to visit and study in Shanghai thousands of miles away.

To this end, Zhou Weihong specially designed five themes for the summer camp with his colleagues, including six unique trips of "becoming a Shanghainese in a day", sightseeing of Oriental Pearl TV Tower and taking night tour buses of "experiencing the speed of Shanghai", visiting the First Memorial Hall of the Communist Party of China, the Fourth Memorial Hall of the Communist Party of China and the Shanghai History Museum of "understanding a section of Shanghai history", visiting the Bund and Disney of "experiencing a flavor of Shanghai style", and experiencing the characteristic courses of the Youth Activity Center of "culture gathering", and experiencing different Shanghai through the five major activities.

"Veterans in the Tourism Industry" Raise the Banner

Having been in the industry for nearly 30 years, Zhou Weihong has experienced ups and downs in the tourism industry. In the past three years, she has been a volunteer for epidemic prevention and control, and a leader who has led enterprise employees to actively transform and innovate.

In this year's work report of the Shanghai Municipal Government, it was proposed to promote the deep integration and development of culture and tourism, and create cultural and tourism masterpieces such as "one river, one river tourism" and "Shanghai style urban archaeology". Among them, the "Shanghai style Urban Archaeology" working group established by Spring and Autumn Tourism in August last year was led by Zhou Weihong, and the "members" included high-quality cultural and tourism products from Spring and Autumn Tourism, excellent tour guides, official website live streaming platforms, video production teams, and the company's quality supervision and compliance personnel. In the process of operating the ten major themes of "Shanghai style urban archaeology", we continue to explore the cultural and tourism resources of Shanghai, including cultural heritage, architecture, folk customs, cuisine, entertainment, transportation, industry and commerce, finance, and rural areas, showcasing Shanghai's urban accumulation and urban spirit.

"I have read about 50-60 books about Shanghai, ranging from postcards, snacks, and clothing culture to showcasing Shanghai's urban evolution and red history. After absorbing this knowledge, I hope to have a more objective understanding of the excavation and development of deep urban tourism in Shanghai." Zhou Weihong said.

When the tourism industry briefly stagnated due to force majeure in the past three years, the product managers of Spring and Autumn Tourism, led by Zhou Weihong, shifted from outbound tourism to domestic tourism in Shanghai. While striving to retain the talent team of tour guides, they continued to train and enhance the abilities of employees to "change" in response to "huge changes" and waited for the industry's recovery.

This reminds Zhou Weihong of her first decade of joining the Spring and Autumn period. During the SARS outbreak in 2003, when the internet was not yet developed, in order to prevent the team of companies working from home from slackening off, the management of Spring and Autumn Tourism assigned each middle-level cadre a "large head" reading task and wrote detailed reading notes. Zhou Weihong is reading a book about the development of Coca Cola.

Years later, when Zhou Weihong became the manager of the Spring and Autumn tourism brand and faced a heavy blow to the industry, he once again remembered the time when he had "gnawed on the majority". At any time, the core members of the team cannot be relaxed; when doing tourism, we must gather the widest range of voices. Therefore, in the past three years, Spring and Autumn Tourism has not only optimized and upgraded its information system, laying a solid foundation for the future digital construction of the enterprise, but also made efforts to maintain valuable tourism talent resources, job positions, and sales resources, allowing the enterprise to get on track as soon as the industry recovers.

Inheriting Shanghai's historical and cultural heritage

Executive Committee Member of the Women's Federation of Changning District and member of the Changning District Political Consultative Conference... Among her rich social identities, the 16th Shanghai People's Congress representative is Zhou Weihong's latest glorious achievement this year. In the first half of her tenure, she has submitted multiple suggestions, covering the steady recovery of the aviation industry, improving the tourism service functions of public cultural spaces, and continuing to carry out "see Shanghai, appreciate Shanghai, love Shanghai" activities. These lively suggestions all come from her years of industry experience and firsthand experience of always working on the front line.

When serving as a member of the Changning District Political Consultative Conference, Zhou Weihong submitted a proposal on public cultural and tourism services around the construction of the "15 minute community life circle". One detail mentioned that a pocket park on Wuyi Road near Anxi Road can be transformed into a "meeting point" for daily travel of citizens and tourists, equipped with unique seats, urban furniture, and greenery.

"To transform Shanghai's rich urban resources into high-quality cultural and tourism resources, achieving this beautiful goal cannot only rely on experts, scholars, and media promotion, but also requires rigorous products and high-quality service support. This is our mission as' tourists', to make more people feel happy while traveling." Zhou Weihong said.

In late June, after several months of training and polishing with the Shanghai Museum of History, 18 tour guides for Spring and Autumn tourism passed the assessment of basic exhibition and explanation qualifications for Li Bo and became certified special guides. Xu Dandan became the first tour guide representative to participate in the trial lecture on July 3rd. This once again made her, who has been in the industry for over 7 years, feel the identity leap and mission transmission of being a "tourist". "It is a great honor and excitement to have the opportunity to share the history of this city in Shanghai."

However, after Xu Dandan's first audition, Zhou Weihong, who has always adhered to the principle of "strict teaching leads to high apprenticeship", still made several precise suggestions: when telling about HSBC's "Bronze Lion", the needs of young tourists should be taken into account, and more linkage explanations should be made with similar buildings and sculptures on the Bund; When explaining one of the treasures of the town hall, the "Wuhua Hao Bai Zi Da Li Jiao", one can use "exquisite craftsmanship" to succinctly summarize and leave a deeper impression on tourists; On the second floor, you can first take the stairs to experience the historical details of the predecessor of the Li Bo architecture and the former Shanghai Jockey Club displayed on the iron railing.

Zhou Weihong provided trial lectures and guidance for the first batch of certified tour guides for Li Bo.

"The explanatory words of the History Museum are over 30 pages long. Perhaps not every visitor can fully read every exhibit, but our tour guide still needs to use professional standards to complete standardized explanations and showcase the most vivid historical footprints of this city." Zhou Weihong said. Not only that, she also requires tour guides to further understand the history of ancient civilizations in Shanghai, such as Guangfulin and Songze, in addition to familiarizing themselves with the exhibits in the museum, so that more citizens and tourists who listen to the explanation can understand the historical connections of urban development.

Driven by Zhou Weihong, the People's Square section, which already holds an important position in urban micro tourism during the Spring and Autumn period, will welcome richer and more comprehensive cultural and tourism products and services. "This summer, students can come to the History Museum to 'read' and perceive Shanghai's history up close through the vivid explanations of the Spring and Autumn tour guides," said Ke Yiming, the product manager of the Spring and Autumn Micro Tour. It is reported that the first launch of "Li Bo Micro Tour" is planned to be launched in mid July.

In summer, Yang Quan, a delivery rider from Lincang, Yunnan, has once again encountered the toughest delivery season of the year. However, his heart is steadfast: the "Warm New Nest" new employment group service station in front of the Zhaofeng Square in Zhongshan Park is a harbor for him and his colleagues to shelter from wind and rain throughout the year, regardless of the extreme cold or heat. This is one of the many "warm new nests" in Changning District. Yang Quan, born on the banks of the Lancang River and born in the 1990s, did not know that in the bustling city center of Shanghai, many people used to live in shabby houses, some of whom also faced insurmountable difficulties such as serious illness and unemployment. The Huayang Road Street in Changning District, where Zhaofeng Square is located, is one of them. 30 years ago, grassroots cadres in Huayang visited day and night to understand the living conditions of all the disadvantaged groups and helped them solve difficulties one by one. From then on, a person who understands people
