"America has never had only one voice"

"I have found that the voices of American citizens calling for friendship between the two countries have been suppressed or even masked." In Washington State, where Zhuang Hanjie is located, many friends around him support the friendship between the two countries and are worried about the current situation of US China relations. So, his "US China Youth Student Exchange Association" and local friendly individuals decided to write this letter together to Chinese leaders: "On the one hand, we want the American public to hear our voice, and on the other hand, we also want the Chinese people to know that there is never only one voice in the United States, and many American people hope that the two countries can continue to be friendly."

"In the relationship between the two countries, cultural exchanges have always played an important role, and friendship between people, especially among young people, is crucial." Zhuang Hanjie later initiated the establishment of the "US China Youth Student Exchange Association" with local friendly people to China, and has been committed to promoting exchanges between the two countries' people, especially young people.

"Tell teachers and friends about the real China"

Promote high-level visits between cities of the two countries, organize American young students to visit China, promote table tennis exchanges between the two countries, and help Wenchuan earthquake young people visit Washington... Looking back on the work of the Association over the years, Zhuang Hanjie summarized it as "improving understanding", "although we are already in the Internet age, it is strange that many Americans still have limited understanding of China".

So in 2016, Zhuang Hanjie organized 100 students from his alma mater, Lincoln Middle School, to visit China - to experience the profound history of China in the Forbidden City, to play table tennis with Chinese students in school, and to play "flash" with local young people in Dujiangyan Irrigation Project, Sichuan... In China, American students spent an unforgettable journey.

"After these children returned to the United States, they had an impact on more than 100 families. They not only talked to their parents about their experiences in China, but also told their teachers and friends about the true face of China." Zhuang Hanjie said, "I want to take this action to promote cooperation between the United States and China, seek common ground while reserving differences, work together to improve the economy, and let the people live and work in peace and contentment."

Despite facing various difficulties, youth exchanges between the two countries have continued in recent years. The 15th Shanghai International Youth Interactive Friendship Camp in 2019 was attended by 6 teachers and students from Lincoln High School and Strathcon High School in Washington State; In July of this year, the 17th Shanghai International Youth Interactive Friendship Camp was attended by three teachers and students from Strathcon High School in Washington State. American teachers and students told the staff of the Shanghai Friendship Association that the enthusiasm and friendliness of Shanghai citizens have left a deep impression on them, and they will bring this beautiful memory back to their hometown and share it with those around them.

"Continue to build a bridge of mutual trust between the United States and China"

The friendship between nations lies in mutual affinity between the people, and mutual affinity between the people lies in mutual understanding.

In the future, Shanghai will also build more communication platforms to promote mutual visits between young people in Shanghai and the United States, promote the establishment of friendly exchange relations between the two schools, enable young people from both countries to understand and trust each other, and sow the seeds of friendship between China and the United States among young people.

Zhuang Hanjie told reporters that he hopes to establish the China Representative Office of the US China Youth Student Exchange Association as soon as possible, and promote the association's better work in China.
