Ten years ago, as the only professional and non-profit organization established in non rare earth mining areas, the Shanghai Rare Earth Association was officially established. China has rare earths, and Shanghai has applications. Shanghai is the birthplace of rare earth application technology in China and the forefront of rare earth product production and application. Since its establishment, the Rare Earth Association has expanded its layout towards technological innovation, advanced manufacturing, and ecological construction, attracting a large number of members from universities, research institutes, financing consulting, and other fields to join the association. It has established multiple professional committees focusing on magnetic materials, luminescence, catalysis, polishing, optoelectronics, standardization, and other fields, gathering a large number of high-end talents and unicorn enterprises. Every year, rare earth related application achievements have won national or municipal scientific and technological awards, becoming one of the industry associations with the strongest technological background and the highest technological content.
The Shanghai Rare Earth Association insists on making development the top priority, focusing on implementing the new development concept, building a new development pattern, and seizing the new development track. It organizes member linkage and integrated development, and promotes target convergence, resource integration, and value aggregation through market docking, technological linkage, and service linkage. It has organized more than 300 docking activities, with a membership coverage rate of 98%. In the past 10 years, the association has built an upward and beautiful rare earth culture, promoted the spirit of innovation, established innovative models, and stimulated innovative practices. It has successively commended 8 innovative units, recommended 12 excellent innovation cases and application scenarios, released 4 international advanced group standards, and published two rare earth special issues. Over the past 10 years, the association has leveraged its expert and organizational advantages, cooperated with the formulation of the rare earth industry development plan, and completed two five-year strategic plans, namely the 13th and 14th Five Year Plans. Collaborated with the preparation of annual development reports for the rare earth industry, completed 7 annual reports, and completed over 20 specialized reports in sub fields such as laser and boutique steel. Understood first-hand information data and situation, and served as a good staff assistant. Assist in completing the research tasks of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Rare Earth Office, and identify the breakthroughs and strengths of the association in aligning with national strategies. Establishing strategic alliances with the Municipal Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and others, promoting the resolution of technological bottlenecks, participating in the construction of high-end rare earth industry investment platforms and international exchange platforms in the Yangtze River Delta, opening up new fields and tracks, cultivating new competitive advantages, cultivating new models and formats, participating in special actions to crack down on illegal and irregular rare earth activities, and guarding the safety bottom line of the rare earth industry.
For the past 10 years, the association has focused on the construction of a modern industrial system in Shanghai, helping to create a high-quality development "reality picture", focusing on the greening of the steel industry, strengthening the industrial foundation, the first batch of new materials, future materials, etc., and has made positive progress in forward-looking and systematic research. Amplify the "spillover effect" of new rare earth product releases, make good use of the Industry Expo platform, and on the basis of releasing 92 products on site for 6 consecutive years, form a new strong communication effect through the combination of online and offline. According to statistics, the total output value of Shanghai's rare earth industry's large-scale enterprises has risen from 25 billion yuan to 67.3 billion yuan in the past 10 years, taking a big step forward. It can be said that today's rare earth industry in Shanghai has delivered a qualified answer sheet from dispersion to concentration, from low-end to high-end, and from following to leading.
