Good news came from the opening ceremony of the 2023 Shanghai Energy Conservation Promotion Week.
At the event, Shanghai Bank signed a memorandum of understanding with representatives from Shanghai Energy Conservation Association and Shanghai Energy Efficiency Center regarding the "Green Finance Laboratory". The three parties will actively serve the "dual carbon" strategic goals through the cooperation platform of the laboratory, focusing on the construction of a "3+6" new industrial system and the "six modernizations" trend of industrial development in Shanghai, and using green finance to promote the layout of Shanghai's "new track and new momentum".
In addition, Shanghai Bank Zhangjiang Park has been officially awarded the first batch of zero carbon parks in Shanghai since it was approved by the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology in June last year.
Establishing a "Green Finance Laboratory"
The Green Finance Laboratory was jointly established by Shanghai Bank, Shanghai Energy Conservation Association, and Shanghai Energy Efficiency Center under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology. In terms of specific work promotion, the three parties will focus on growth oriented and innovative enterprises in the green and low-carbon field, such as green new materials, clean energy, new energy vehicles, hydrogen energy, energy storage, residual energy utilization, and carbon management. They will develop standardized templates and customized services, jointly study the core technologies and carbon reduction situation of the target enterprise, make decisions and implement accurate and efficient comprehensive green financial service plans, and accurately support the development of the green and low-carbon industry.

In recent years, Bank of Shanghai has focused on building a "green service+" product system, focusing on the development plan of Shanghai's low-carbon new track industry, and increasing its green financial service capabilities and innovation efforts. For example, in the field of solar photovoltaic, it has served leading enterprises in the photovoltaic industry such as Trina Solar, Atlas, Jinko, and Jin'ao, fully linking with strategic shareholder Santander Bank and its subsidiary Shanghai Bank Hong Kong to provide integrated domestic and foreign currency financial service solutions for the above-mentioned enterprises; In the field of hydrogen energy industry, we serve fuel cell system and core component enterprises such as Tangfeng Energy, Reshape Energy, and Yihuatong, providing characteristic investment and loan linkage services for these rapidly growing enterprises; In the field of ultimate energy efficiency, we have specifically optimized contract energy management loans, relaxed credit terms and guarantee methods, and formed a package of product and service solutions suitable for the entire lifecycle of enterprises, such as contract energy management, intellectual property pledge loans, and green supply chains.
It is reported that recently, the bank has also jointly launched the first green inclusive guarantee loan in Shanghai with the Municipal Financing Guarantee Center and Shenneng Co., Ltd., targeting small and medium-sized enterprises and carbon asset holding enterprises in the green and low-carbon industry field in Shanghai, providing a convenient and efficient inclusive financing channel for these enterprises.

Building "Three Experimental Fields"
The theme of the 2023 Energy Conservation Promotion Week is "Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction, Walking with Us". In recent years, Shanghai Bank has started with its own low-carbon operation and is committed to building a benchmark for energy conservation and carbon reduction in financial enterprises, assisting in the green transformation of the economy and society. Taking the Zhangjiang Industrial Park, which has just been awarded the first batch of zero carbon park licenses by the Economic and Information Commission, as an example, in September last year, the rooftop photovoltaic power generation was carried out through a contract energy management model, and the energy management platform and data room renovation projects were successively launched, which can generate an annual carbon reduction of 612 tons.
According to Zhu Jian, the President of Bank of Shanghai, the bank will continue to build "three experimental fields", be a good practitioner and pioneer of green and low-carbon development, and create a benchmark for low-carbon development of financial enterprises.
A test field for promoting the linkage between industry and finance. Promote the development of green industries with new momentum, explore the effectiveness of green scenarios in the bank's office buildings and green branches, promote cooperation between banks and enterprises, and innovate the development of green cooperation models; Explore carbon inclusive cooperation pilot fields, actively integrate into the construction of Shanghai's carbon inclusive system, based on the bank's carbon credits application, gradually expand application scenarios and coverage, achieve data interconnection and system interoperability, and explore the development of financial services and products based on carbon credits; On the road to creating a zero carbon park pilot field, we will implement the "accelerating the green transformation of development methods and implementing comprehensive conservation strategies" outlined in the 20th National Congress report, and form a replicable and promotable roadmap for zero carbon transformation of data centers.
