"Carbon Road Future - Low Carbon Tourism Guidelines Handbook" Released: Low Carbon | Cities | Carbon Road Future - Low Carbon Tourism Guidelines Handbook
On July 12th, at the National Low Carbon Day theme promotion event in Shanghai, Sun Wei, Chairman of the Shanghai Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Center, launched an initiative for low-carbon tourism to citizens, citing the "Carbon Road Future - Low Carbon Tourism Guidelines Handbook".
The Handbook is jointly compiled by the Shanghai Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Center and the First Institute of Finance and Economics. It starts from five aspects: "What is low-carbon tourism", "Why low-carbon tourism", "What are low-carbon tourism scenarios", "New trends in low-carbon tourism development", and "Guidelines for low-carbon tourism", guiding readers to have a more comprehensive understanding of the meaning and significance of low-carbon tourism. Based on scientific research, the Handbook believes that low-carbon tourism is not only a new challenge that needs to be completed, but also can bring new business opportunities - creating low-carbon new models in tourism destinations, tourism products, and commemorative derivatives from the perspectives of new spaces, new products, and new formats.
Currently, "urban roaming" is opening up a new way of urban tourism. The Handbook pays special attention to this trend and believes that the charm of international metropolises has shifted from the bustling light and shadow of high-rise buildings to the real-life scenes on both sides of urban streets. For example, on the bar of a coffee shop, there are built-in cups that can showcase individuality and easily complete low-carbon practices; The sustainable brand collection store under the shade of wutong trees on the street has become a new gathering place for fashion trends; On weekends, various low-carbon new formats such as second-hand markets, low-carbon tours, sustainable music festivals, zero carbon film festivals, and zero waste performances attract numerous local residents and tourists.

Through the Handbook, the Shanghai Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Center, in collaboration with the First Institute of Finance and Economics, has proposed to the public an initiative to extend low-carbon behaviors in daily life into tourism, such as prioritizing low-carbon transportation, trying slow travel, subtracting luggage, reducing the use of disposable products, and choosing environmentally friendly tourism products. During tourism, one can transform their identity from a "tourist" to a "temporary resident", and have deeper communication and co creation with the travel destination, thereby obtaining a more profound and unique travel experience.
