Tourists from Shanghai to Sanming and Taining in Fujian can travel directly by high-speed train, and there is no need to transfer between trains anymore. The reporter learned from the Shanghai media Sanmingxing interview activity that with the support of Shanghai Railway Bureau and Nanchang Railway Bureau, the railway department will open high-speed trains from Nanchang West to Shanghai Hongqiao passing through Taining in July this year. This means that the transportation circle from Shanghai to Taining will be shortened to about half a day. Shanghai tourists can depart in the morning and arrive in Taining in the afternoon.
"Recently, there has been a significant increase in tourists coming from Shanghai," said Lin Xixiang, Deputy Director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Taining County, Sanming, Fujian. As of mid to early May, the number of tourists from the Yangtze River Delta has reached 11000, and Shanghai has always been an important tourist source market for Taining.
Breaking the bottleneck
Mountains and seas are intertwined, and love is deep and deep. The relationship between Shanghai and Taining in tourism can be traced back to the 1990s. At that time, Taining initiated the implementation of the "tourism revitalizing county" strategy, with continuous passenger traffic and closely intertwined tourism markets between Shanghai and Thailand. After 2000, the two sides further maintained close contact and strengthened exchanges, deepening cooperation in tourism, economy, education, medical care, and other areas. The number of people studying, doing business, and working in Shanghai in Taining accounted for one-third of the total number of migrant workers in the county. Together with countless migrant workers, they participated in the construction of Shanghai and witnessed its development. Shanghai has become the second hometown of the people of Taining.
Taining is located in the northwest mountainous area of Fujian, but it has rare water Danxia landforms such as Dajin Lake and Shangqing River in the country. In 1993, Taining's tourism industry set sail. On April 22, 1998, with the support and assistance of the Shanghai Light Industry Union, Taining organized its first Shanghai tourism special train, carrying over 600 Shanghai tourists to Taining for tourism.

The first tourism special train successfully opened up the Shanghai market, and since then, Shanghai tourists have been in constant flow. Shanghai special trains have become the norm, and Shanghai has also become an important part of the tourism market in Taining. Taining tourism has begun to expand beyond Fujian.
On April 11, 2003, with the sound of the whistle, the first "Da Jinhu - Da Shanghai" special train slowly started from Shaowu Station in Fujian and headed towards Shanghai. 682 passengers were divided into 17 groups, and they had a special identity - "Jinhu Messenger". As soon as the special train arrived in Shanghai, everyone took the promotional materials and went straight to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower Radio and Television Tower. In front of this tower, tourists from all over the country gather. The "Jinhu Ambassador" enthusiastically distributed the materials in his hand to the tourists and provided them with a detailed description of Taining. Afterwards, Taining County also established a sales department in Shanghai to provide timely feedback on the dynamic information of the Shanghai tourism market.
However, there has always been a lack of a direct railway line from Shanghai to Taining, and transfers from Shanghai to Taining are required in Nanchang, which has become a transportation bottleneck for the development of tourism in Taining. Now this bottleneck is about to be broken.
Opening a new chapter
The breaking of the bottleneck is heralding a new chapter in tourism cooperation between the two regions.
Nowadays, in Taining, the imprint of Shanghai can be seen everywhere. On the construction site of the Taining Jinjiang International Resort Hotel project, a red background with golden characters was hung with a slogan - "Continuation of the new relationship between Shanghai and Ming, and a new chapter of cooperation.".
This project is the largest single project in terms of collaborative investment volume between Shanghai and Sanming. The project site is located within the buffer zone between the Dajin Lake Scenic Area and the World Heritage Nomination Site in Sanming City, Fujian Province. It is jointly invested and constructed by Sanming Chengfa Group and Jinjiang International Hotel Management Co., Ltd. in accordance with the standards of high-end vacation hotels. The total investment of the project is about 500 million yuan, adjacent to the main scenic area of Jinhu. The hotel has a "Tai" appearance and revolves around the core of "Shanshui Taining", with mountains as the building and water as the scenery. "The project is planned to be put into use in early 2025. After completion, it will fill the gap in the lack of five-star hotels in Taining and help promote the transformation and upgrading of Taining's cultural and tourism industry," said Qiu Zhenbin, Deputy Director of Taining County Development and Reform Bureau.
This project is just a microcosm of the cooperation between the two regions. At present, Taining Dajinhu has been selected as the main poster for tourism promotion in Sanming City and promoted on the Shanghai "Cooperation and Exchange" subway; Relying on the launch ceremony of the "Shanghai Sanming Weekend Tour" and the theme promotion of "Ink Mountain Tranquility in Taining", Taining has successfully attracted the first thousand person travel group; The Taining Cultural and Creative Base has become the first Shanghai employee recuperation base in Fujian Province, receiving more than 310 people from 8 batches to Taining for recuperation; The Taining Ancient City business format and tourism infrastructure improvement project has been successfully included in the 2023 Shanghai Sanming City counterpart cooperation project database, and has secured a special fund of 12 million yuan.
These cultural and tourism cooperation projects can also be seen as a microcosm of the Shanghai Ming cooperation. In May 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission issued the "Work Plan for Counterpart Cooperation between Key Cities in Revolutionary Old Areas", which clarified the establishment of a corresponding cooperation relationship between Shanghai and Sanming. In August of the same year, Shanghai issued the "Work Plan for Corresponding Cooperation", further determining the corresponding cooperation relationship between Hongkou District and Taining County. Since the implementation of the paired cooperation work, Taining County and Shanghai have carried out 87 batches of exchange and visit activities, signed the Paired Cooperation Agreement between Hongkou District and Taining County, and issued and implemented the Paired Cooperation Action Plan between Hongkou District and Jianning County, Taining County, and Jiangle County in Sanming City. Currently, Hongkou District and Taining County are promoting cooperation in 10 special fields.
