This year marks the 20th anniversary of Zhejiang's promotion of the "Thousand Village Demonstration and Ten Thousand Village Renovation" initiative. The "Ten Million Project" has created many beautiful rural areas in Zhejiang, achieving significant results and leading the overall living environment of rural areas in Zhejiang to the forefront of the country. During the breaks between interviews in various parts of Zhejiang, reporters from Liberation Daily and Shangguan News randomly walked into some villages, like opening blind boxes with expectations and questions, watching the changes in the countryside. This is the third article.
In Xianyan Village, Baizhang Town, Yuhang, Hangzhou, a few years ago, a 5.7 kilometer long asphalt road in the village was destroyed by flash floods. Many households living along the river were flooded, their basements were flooded, and household appliances, cars, and other belongings were washed into the river. A total of 56 households were affected. As a livelihood project, the district has invested funds in the comprehensive renovation of small villages, involving the relocation of 18 households from other places. In the past two years, with the completion of the widening and reinforcement of flood control facilities in Xianyanxi, villagers have also gradually moved back and built new houses on the original site.
It is said that rural houses in Zhejiang are beautifully built, and the reporter wants to go and see the new houses in the village.
Some houses are still under construction, stacked with red bricks and tiles. The four small villas located not far from the village entrance and adjacent to Xianyan Creek are particularly eye-catching, with three floors and a basement, giving them a neat and imposing appearance. A homeowner is an old grandfather who warmly invited reporters into the house to take a look. The interior has just been tiled and tiled, and no furniture has been added yet. There is a small courtyard at the back door that is planned to be used for growing vegetables.
Baizhang Town has specially hired resident designers to provide free rural housing design services for villagers.
Resident designer Yu Zhonghai is from Yuhang. He worked in Shanghai for a period of time and returned to his hometown to start a business. His focus was on rural housing design. In Xianyan Village, the design of rural houses adopts a one-on-one docking method. Each household and design team has a WeChat group, which is convenient for timely communication and can also meet the personalized needs of each household as much as possible.
What are the considerations for the layout of a house, where to open the kitchen, whether to retain the production land in front of the door, where to store agricultural equipment, and how to add functional areas for homestay families? In the design process, it is also necessary to consider the harmony and fairness between villagers and neighbors, such as the same area of land when building a house, and how to unify the height of a building on a slope.
Yu Zhonghai introduced that in the past few years, many villagers in the village preferred the style of European style villas, but in recent years, their preferences have gradually shifted towards Zhejiang style residential buildings and new Chinese style. Many villagers have followed suit when seeing new houses built by their neighbors, and the overall architectural style of the village has also become more unified.
There are many elderly people in the village, and the household visited by the reporter usually only has the elderly couple. The children only occasionally return to the village, and the rooms upstairs are all empty. The grandfather urgently asked: Is there any way to rent a floor for you city dwellers to live in and enjoy the rural life.
Indeed, the countryside has a unique charm. Nowadays, there are sports facilities for villagers to engage in activities, small pavilions for summer shade, and activity centers that are also common courtyards for villagers to chat and enjoy the cool on summer nights. The flowing Xianyan Creek, accompanied by the low chirping of cicadas, walked up the mountain and into the more tranquil bamboo sea and pine mountains.
