Recently, citizens passing by the Xuhui Binjiang Party and Mass Service Center found that the Manner Coffee, which was originally located at the entrance of the river on the first floor, had been relocated and replaced by the Xuhui Binjiang Citizen Cafeteria, which was just put into operation earlier this month. It is located in an excellent public open space on the Huangpu River, making it the closest community cafeteria in Shanghai to the Huangpu River in a straight line.
The original site of the Xuhui Binjiang Party and Mass Service Center was the Xuhui Binjiang Planning Exhibition Hall. At the end of June 2021, it was renovated into a Binjiang Party and Mass Service Center with a building area of about 1700 square meters and a total of 20 services in 6 categories. Over the past 2 years of operation, it has provided services to 330000 people and carried out more than 500 activities, becoming a new highlight space along the "One River, One River" coast of Shanghai.
As past citizens continue to come to the center for rest, visits, reading, and self-study, the demand for new convenient services is gradually increasing. In the first quarter of this year, the Xuhui Binjiang Party and Mass Service Center launched the second round of renovation, with the addition of community canteens becoming the biggest highlight of this renovation.
"At first, more and more citizens used the center as a location for receiving takeout, and at the same time, we also noticed that there were relatively few types of restaurants along the river." Xia Rui, the person in charge of the Xuhui Binjiang Party and Mass Service Center, told reporters that during the renovation of the cafeteria, an electronic display screen was erected at the entrance as a countdown. Almost every day, citizens anxiously asked, "When can the cafeteria open?"
After two months of renovation and renovation, overcoming challenges such as kitchen expansion, gas access, and power expansion, the Xuhui Binjiang Citizen Canteen began trial operation in July this year. Not only does it provide three meals a day for 365 days, but all dishes are freshly fried and sold. Even noodles such as baozi, shaomai, and pan fried are freshly packaged and made, allowing citizens to enjoy three meals that are full of steam.
"Initially, breakfast was served at 7:30 am, but many early exercising residents expressed their desire to move the time forward, so shortly after the opening, breakfast was served earlier at 7:00 pm." Xia Rui explained that similar details were adjusted every day after the cafeteria opened. Since its trial operation, the cafeteria has not only attracted nearby residents and riverside runners to "go home for dinner", but also many citizens and tourists who came to check in and taste it. On weekdays at noon, surrounding white-collar workers will also carpool together for lunch.
By leveraging the popularity generated by the community cafeteria, the Xuhui Binjiang Party and Mass Service Center has also simultaneously optimized spaces such as the "Waterfront Lecture Hall," "Coffee Public Welfare Space," "Lighthouse Study," "Outdoor Employee Love Gas Station," and "Runner Station." The center has upgraded its 24-hour convenience service hall and actively introduced high-quality resources to improve the summer parent-child and children's interest experience services.
Not only that, the platform on the second floor of the center, which was originally 3.7 meters wide, has also been expanded to 7.2 meters, becoming a "river view terrace" open to all citizens. After dining from the community cafeteria, people can buy a cup of coffee and go to the second floor terrace to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Pujiang River in the river breeze, and share the quality of life along the riverside.
Just one street away from the Binjiang Party and Mass Service Center is the under construction West Bank Financial City. The project has an above ground construction area of 1.08 million square meters, which is not only a modern financial industry cluster led by financial technology that Xuhui is striving to build, but also the largest investment project of Hong Kong Land after the Central and Binhai Bay Financial Center in Singapore. However, with the introduction of a large number of white-collar workers and residents in the future, the construction of the "15 minute community living circle" along the Xuhui riverbank will also face new challenges.
Li Feiyu, Chairman of West Bank Group, introduced that by the end of this year, the number of white-collar workers settling in Xuhui Binjiang is expected to exceed 90000, and the annual flow of people is expected to exceed 10 million. While improving high-level infrastructure and service facilities, and balancing work and housing, Xuhui Binjiang will also continue to build a prosperous Binjiang commercial belt. On the other hand, Hong Kong Land will also gather more high-quality resources from the financial and sustainable development fields and hold forums and other activities for the West Bank Financial City through the alliance platform. At the end of this year, the public art building "West Coast Xuanxin", which includes exhibition and other functions, will be the first to appear in the West Coast Financial City. It is expected that all plots will be completed by 2027-2028.
