This year, the competition activities have become more diverse, and Shanghai One Street has been holding the Shanghai Language Competition for over a decade
On July 25th, the first "Nanfengzhishen" Shanghai Language Culture Festival was held in Nanmatou Road Street, Pudong New Area, featuring Shanghai Language Roundtable Forum, Shanghai Language Characteristic Classroom, Shanghai Language Reading Competition, and Shanghai Language Carnival Market. The event will last for two months, during which various activities, courses, and competitions will be held, including the Shanghai Language Reading Contest, Shanghai Language Culture Classroom, Shanghai Language Film Season, Small Theater Creation Camp, and Carnival Market.
Shanghai dialect is a highly representative local dialect, containing rich traditional cultural elements. In order to inherit and promote the Shanghai language culture, Nanmatou Road Street has held a Shanghai language competition since 2012. It has evolved from a street level competition with only 20-30 community children to a new district level competition and city level cultural project that covers nearly a thousand people of all ages. The format of the competition has evolved from the original single storytelling of Shanghainese nursery rhymes to poetry recitation, cross-talk, and performance, and advocates encouraging the original creation and performance of Shanghainese scripts.
Jin Fu, a 71 year old resident of a village in Linyi, is a staunch fan of the Shanghai language competition. Last year, he also participated in the competition with his 8-year-old grandson. "The performance of our own Shanghai dialect poetry by our ancestors and grandchildren feels like an old spirit. Shanghai dialect is the root of Shanghai culture and the sentiment of the people of Shanghai, which needs to be passed down from generation to generation," said Jin Fu.
In recent years, the street has actively explored and practiced, continuously endowing the Shanghai language competition with new connotations. The first "Nanfeng Shen" Shanghai Language and Culture Festival is based on traditional competitions, by expanding the form, content, and participation, inviting experts to study and explore the inheritance of Shanghai language, attracting citizens to immerse themselves in the experience, and allowing more citizens to experience a strong Shanghai language sentiment at Nanpu.
Among them, "Fun Shanghai Language" - the "Creation Camp" of the small theater relies on professional strength to cultivate new people in Nanmatou, combining the aging community of Nanmatou and the actual work and life of new Shanghai people in Shanghai, showcasing young people's integration into urban culture, bringing their neighborhoods closer for deep creation, creating a humanistic sentiment in the dock, reflecting the fun of daily life, and using the Shanghai dialect as a carrier to create original Shanghai language sketches.
"The People and Things at the South Pier" - The Huyu Yuedu Narrative Activity combines the library's secondary literature to depict the iconic buildings of the pier, write unique cultural stories about the pier, and use the Huyu dialect to carry out textual narration, recording audio and video stories. Upload the content of the secondary literature to the platform for readers to choose and upload independently. After selection by the expert group members, awards will be given at the closing ceremony, including the Shenqing Shenyin Award, Newcomer Award, Good Voice Award, etc., presenting an atmosphere of everyone understanding the South Dock and speaking Shanghai dialect.
The theme song "Shen Qing Shen Yin", which was released on the spot on that day, was tailored for the Shanghai Language Festival. The theme song "Alas Shanghai people, speak Shanghai dialect; Wu Nong's soft language, inherit Shanghai style culture; the application of the South Wind, dialogue with the world; the application of Shen Qing Shen Yin also needs to be internationalized...". In addition, 10 well-known Shanghai language experts, including Professor Ding Dimon from Shanghai University and Shanghai language expert, as well as Wang Yuanchao, a contracted songwriter and Shanghai children's rhyme singer at Universal Records, also gathered together for a unique round table forum. Experts discussed the current inheritance and future development prospects of the Shanghai language around the theme of "Inheritance and Promotion of the Shanghai Language", and put forward many constructive opinions and suggestions on promoting the Shanghai language culture in the community.
It is reported that as a routine project for spreading Shanghai language culture in the street, after the Shanghai Language Festival, the street will also bring Shanghai language textbooks exclusively authorized by Teacher Ding Dimon to the campuses, campuses, residential areas, and parks for teaching, continuously cultivating a group of community teachers with expertise in Shanghai language. At the same time, we will continue to provide Shanghai language interest classes to primary schools in our jurisdiction, offer Shanghai opera courses in community schools, and set up a "Fun Talk about Shanghai Idle Talk" column in the "Nanfeng" community newspaper, allowing more students and new Shanghainese to learn Shanghai dialect together and experience the unique charm of Shanghai style culture.
