On August 15th, the first National Ecological Day, a new touch of green was added to the core area of Shanghai Hongqiao Development Zone. Following the renovation and renovation of Hongqiao Park in May this year, the "Zunyi Road Community Pocket Park" separated by a street has also been basically completed, welcoming the first batch of residents participating in the National Ecological Day Citizen Science Popularization Experience Series of Tianshan Road Street to visit.
Pocket parks connect vitality bonds
The Zunyi Road Community Pocket Park is surrounded by three buildings. The original site was a hospital, but after relocation, it became a public green space, but people cannot enter. In the second half of last year, Tianshan Road Street in Changning District took the lead in launching the renovation and renewal of this green space, and officially started construction in May this year.
Now, strolling on Zunyi Road, this pocket park located across the street from Hongqiao Nanfengcheng Shopping Mall echoes the nearby Hongqiao Park. Walking into the park and admiring it closely, one can discover many clever ideas. Palm design designer Cao Bangjun introduced that this pocket park covers an area of about 1725 square meters, including a green area of about 1440 square meters and a water feature area of 25 square meters. The plant configuration is mainly flower border, which has strong ornamental value. Residents and passersby can enjoy a good leisure experience here.
At the entrance of the park, there is a winding and secluded trail that leads people to explore the center of the park, like a fairyland paved with flowers and plants. There is a rockery made of misty stones and a mini square. "The characteristic of the Tianshan region is' Vitality Tianshan ', and Pocket Park is the link of urban vitality. We use a winding trail to connect the entire green space." Cao Bangjun introduced.
Although Zunyi Road Pocket Park has a small area, it still uses the sustainable concept of sponge city and low-carbon environmental protection to build a dojo in a snail shell. Through permeable road surfaces and collection wells in green belts, rainwater can be collected into a water body in front of the rockery. After purification treatment, it can be used as circulating water for the rockery and also for watering plants, achieving both landscape and energy conservation. In the scorching summer, the atomization equipment added around the rockeries can also have a certain cooling effect on the green space.
Cao Bangjun introduced that although Zunyi Road Pocket Park sparrows are small, they have all five organs and are equipped with over 270 types of plants, mainly using easy to maintain and fast growing varieties. Multiple insect inns have also been established in the park, enriching the biodiversity of the green space. Currently, it has attracted visitors from various animals such as birds, butterflies, and squirrels. In the future, this place will also serve as a science popularization activity scene in Tianshan Road Street, hosting various biological knowledge popularization activities.
Creating more new urban greenery
According to the "Technical Guidelines for the Construction of Pocket Parks in Shanghai", the area of pocket parks within the inner ring road of Shanghai should be greater than 1000 square meters in principle, and between the inner and outer rings and five new cities, it should be greater than 2000 square meters. In addition, as an open green space, Pocket Park also needs to be equipped with basic supporting service facilities such as seats and lighting, as well as activity venues that meet the needs of citizens for recreation, leisure, and sightseeing.
As the first pocket park located in Hongqiao Development Zone within the jurisdiction, Tianshan Road Street conducted a preliminary collection of suggestions from residents and white-collar workers in buildings. Many white-collar workers have proposed to have more seats in the park for everyone to sit down and have a cup of coffee and relax during their lunch break, while residents are looking forward to the park's exercise facilities and quiet scenery. For this reason, arc-shaped seats have been set up around several trees that have not been transplanted in the park. Coincidentally, there is a coffee shop without seats right at the entrance of the green space, where white-collar workers can come here to rest with their coffee during their lunch break.
Located in the Hongqiao Development Zone, which has a high level of development maturity, the relatively small Zunyi Road Pocket Park overcame significant challenges during the construction period. Cui Jincheng, the project manager of Shanghai Zongtou Landscape Engineering Co., Ltd., introduced that due to the small construction area of the park, difficulties such as difficulty for vehicles to enter and inability to spread materials need to be overcome during the construction period. The park is only 2 meters away from the Maotai community, which is separated by a wall. During the construction period, noise disturbance to the residents should be avoided, and the noise source interference to the residential area should also be reduced after the park is opened.
"Before construction, the street communicated with the residential area in advance, and the residents were very interested in the future appearance of the park. We also showed everyone the renderings in advance to give residents a 'reassuring pill'. Zhang Hao, Deputy Director of the Community Management Office of Tianshan Road Street, told reporters that the residents in the surrounding small areas are very supportive of the park construction. During the construction period, it happened to be hot summer, and some residents even took the initiative to provide water to the construction personnel, giving the park a warm background before it opened.".
On the first National Ecological Day, Tianshanlu Street held a science popularization experience activity with the theme of "Green water and green mountains are invaluable assets". The participants included residents, "folk forest leaders", white-collar workers from enterprises, and "volunteer service teams for green forest protection", promoting the formation of green and low-carbon production and lifestyle in residential areas, commercial districts, and buildings.
More new urban greenery will gradually spread in the Hongqiao Development Zone. The reporter learned that the under construction Nanfengcheng Habitat Garden in Hongqiao will be unveiled on the 9th lunar month at the earliest, becoming the first "commercial district habitat garden" in Shanghai. Together with Hongqiao Park, Zunyi Road Pocket Park, and others, it will build a large-scale green space park system within the Hongqiao Development Zone. In addition, habitat gardens in residential areas such as Fangda Community will also be promoted in conjunction with the construction of boutique communities, forming a unique and diverse habitat garden system within the jurisdiction of Tianshan Road Street.
