This elderly person from Jinshan, Shanghai, has made it to the "China Good People List" to assist in the education of special needs children and donate millions of Chinese | Good People | Jinshan
Recently, the release ceremony of the "China Good Person List" for the first quarter of 2023 and the on-site exchange activity between national moral models and good people around them were held in Luoyang, Henan Province. Yuan Zhiqiang, a 96 year old man from Shihua Street, Jinshan District, Shanghai, proudly made it to the "China Good Person List".
Yuan Zhiqiang, born in 1927, is a resident of Binyi residential area in Shihua Street, Jinshan District, Shanghai. In 2021, he donated all of his property and other assets, totaling over 1 million yuan, to the Binhai School in Jinshan District as a student aid fund. He also signed a body donation agreement, demonstrating great human love.
In fact, Mr. Yuan only moved from the urban area to the Jinshan Binyi residential area in December 2020. He can confidently donate his property and other assets to local schools, which is closely related to the "Love Roll Call" action in Shihua Street. Mr. Yuan is 96 years old and lives alone. The Binyi Neighborhood Committee has included him in the "Golden Care Circle", where volunteers come to care for and communicate with him every day. This has made Mr. Yuan feel the warmth of society and established a special friendship with the neighborhood committee.
There is a potted flower on the windowsill of Mr. Yuan. He has an agreement with the neighborhood committee staff that when he is at home, he will put potted flowers on the windowsill, and if he goes out, he will bring the flowers into the room. In this way, the neighborhood committee staff can tell if he is at home by passing downstairs.
Why donate all the property to the school? Originating from making up for the regret of youth. Yuan Zhiqiang was born into an ordinary family in Tangshan, Hebei. Due to his poverty, as the eldest son, he went out to work early to earn money to subsidize his household expenses. Not being able to engage in systematic learning at school has always been his biggest regret.
In 2020, Yuan Zhiqiang's spouse left first. Yuan Zhiqiang, who has no children under his knee, made an important decision to donate all his assets to society in a hundred years. In daily TV news, Yuan Zhiqiang often sees reports that many children who excel in both character and education have to give up their studies due to family poverty. "I have no children, and my younger brothers and sisters have great achievements. In this lifetime, people should always do something for themselves and society." So, he decided to donate all his inheritance to a school to help those poor but academically excellent children.
After personal investigation and careful selection, Yuan Zhiqiang decided to donate all of his assets to the Binhai School in Jinshan District. This is a special children's education school with over 100 disabled students. At the end of October 2021, with the help of the neighborhood committee, street judicial office, Jinshan notary office, etc., Mr. Yuan made a will, stating that in a hundred years, he would donate his savings worth millions of yuan, as well as his property and other heritage, as a student aid fund to the Binhai School in Jinshan District. He hopes that through his donation, he can help special children in the school achieve their dreams.
After his wish to donate his inheritance was fulfilled, Yuan Zhiqiang began to get busy again. In December 2021, with the help of the Red Cross Society of Shihua Street, Yuan Zhiqiang completed the registration of body donation in Shanghai. He said, "If my organs can still be used without being affected by age, they can help patients in urgent need and contribute to medical research. Leave my eyes to society and continue to see the prosperity of the country."
