The reporter learned from Pudong New Area that on July 31 local time, the Central Asia Branch of the International Cooperation Center for Technical Exchange of the "the Belt and Road" Free Trade Zone was inaugurated in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Subsequently, representatives from China Inspection and Certification Group and Pudong New Area, as well as representatives from the Standardization and Standards Center of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, had in-depth exchanges and discussions on accelerating the integration of technical standards and rules with Central Asian countries, enhancing mutual trust between government departments, promoting the opening up of technical trade measures, and promoting enterprise import and export trade.
Central Asia is the place where the "the Belt and Road" initiative was initiated, and also a model area where the "the Belt and Road" cooperation achieved results. In recent years, China and the five Central Asian countries have actively carried out the docking of development strategies, and the high-quality joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" has achieved fruitful results. After the establishment of the Kazakhstan Central Asia Sub center, it will further accelerate the establishment of information sharing channels with foreign inspection and testing certification institutions, help enterprises in Shanghai and even the Yangtze River Delta region establish a platform for strengthening information technology cooperation and exchange with the Central Asian government in areas such as quality testing, certification recognition, and standard mutual recognition, and provide technical and regulatory consulting services such as certification systems, standard metrology, and inspection and testing for exporting to Central Asian countries.
Wu Wei from the Shanghai branch of the China Quality Certification Center said that the establishment of the Central Asia branch has provided a convenient channel and technical service support for some domestic enterprises to reach preliminary cooperation intentions in wind farm acquisitions with countries such as Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
The reporter learned that since its establishment in 2018, the International Cooperation Center for Technical Exchanges along the the Belt and Road in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone has established a convenient channel to connect with the international certification and accreditation system, promoted international exchanges and cooperation, and set up branch centers in many countries. In 2019, the Cooperation Center established a China Saudi Arabia Import and Export Commodity Qualification Assessment Workstation and a Middle East Sub center in Pudong, helping Pudong enterprises achieve a package of services for exporting Middle East products at their doorstep, with "one acceptance and one certification regional mutual recognition", greatly saving costs. Subsequently, the cooperation center established Southeast Asian and East Asian sub centers in Singapore and Japan in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
As of now, the center has issued more than 10000 Saudi SASO certificates, helping thousands of enterprises export to Saudi Arabia, involving more than ten categories of products such as electronic appliances, household appliances, and automotive parts; Obtaining the approval of the Energy Efficiency Certification for Lighting Appliances from the Electricity Authority of Thailand, as well as partial approval from government departments in target countries such as Vietnam and Singapore; Awarded over 1500 PSE certificates and assisted nearly 500 companies in exporting their products to Japan.
