The new exhibition of the China Maritime Museum opens, where navigation, boats, and ancient poetry interweave with wisdom | Poetry | Museum
On August 23rd, the exhibition "The Sound of Tide for Thousands of Miles - Searching for Navigation and Boats in Ancient Poetry" officially opened at the Sailing Hall on the third floor of the China Maritime Museum. 100 ancient poems were selected from a vast sea of ancient poetry, divided into five parts: "the interest of nature, the sentiment of the sea of people, the meaning of parting, the ambition of a thousand miles, and the skill of sailing", reflecting social life, reflecting local customs and traditions, inspiring spiritual wisdom, and inheriting millennium old civilization.
China is not only a land of poetry, but also a great country of navigation. In the thousands of years of history, navigation, boats, and ancient poetry and songs intertwine, presenting a magnificent landscape. The exhibition is based on 100 ancient poems, fully linking resources from all parties, expanding the display form of maritime culture, enriching the exhibition content. In addition to poems, it also includes 100 poetic vernacular, 100 maritime knowledge points, 100 recitation videos, 50 award-winning works from the Yangtze River Delta primary and secondary school student calligraphy and painting competition, 6 ship models in the museum collection, and 40 painting works in the museum collection, jointly building a world of navigation and boats with a "tidal sound of thousands of miles" and profound connotations.
The exhibition showcases the diverse perspectives and emotional expressions of humanity in navigation and boating. It promotes liberal education from the perspective of maritime culture, with "ancient maritime poetry" as the entry point and a combination of exhibition and education to create the concept of "great education". Efforts are made to expand and strengthen in "integration, connection, and platform", which is a new attempt. At the opening ceremony, we also invited cooperative schools, small volunteers, performing artists, calligraphers, etc., and brought welcoming banners, boatmen's chants, lion dances, solo dances, poetry recitation, calligraphy exhibitions, and other activities. We also presented awards to award-winning teachers and students in the "Tidal Waves: Searching for Navigation and Boats in Ancient Poetry" exhibition art creation competition.
During the exhibition, viewers will also experience the fun of the "Chaosheng Wanli" exhibition through various channels, such as shooting poetry videos, organizing educational activities, conducting themed lectures, launching digital exhibitions, touring schools, and publishing books of the same name, in order to enjoy beauty.
The extension will continue until January 28, 2024.
