On July 12th, Yangpu District held the 2023 National Low Carbon Day theme promotion event, during which the automatic water quality monitoring station of Yangpu Bridge on the Huangpu River was put into operation. The reporter learned that the monitoring station can not only monitor the water quality of the Huangpu River in real time, but also respond more timely and efficiently to various water environment events; It also utilizes building energy conservation and photovoltaic energy storage technology, pioneering the creation of the city's first "zero carbon water quality monitoring station," exploring an effective path for other zero carbon buildings.

The Huangpu River Yangpu Bridge Water Quality Automatic Monitoring Station is located on Yangpu Binjiang Avenue, facing the Huangpu River water and adjacent to the Yangpu Bridge. The reporter saw two yellow sampling devices by the water bank. The relevant person in charge of the Yangpu District Ecological Environment Bureau said that the device automatically samples and analyzes water quality, with a total of more than 30 indicators, reflecting the water quality status of the Huangpu River in real time.

"In the past, manual sampling was used, and a bottle of water was collected and sent for inspection every two to three days. The Huangpu River is a navigable river, and ships come and go. In case of oil pollution leakage or even more serious chemical leakage from ships, it will be too late until the indicators are detected to be problematic." The person in charge said, "Nowadays, automatic water quality monitoring stations usually take samples every hour, and can handle emergencies faster and more timely."

It is worth mentioning that the water quality automatic monitoring station of the Yangpu Bridge on the Huangpu River is not only an environmental monitoring and protection facility, but also follows the concept of environmental protection and zero carbon, minimizing any additional burden on the environment. The design unit, Tongji University School of Architecture and Urban Planning, introduced that the Daqiao Water Station is based on the sewage pump room of the original Shanghai Power Station auxiliary plant, and has undergone renovation of the exterior facade, indoor space, courtyard landscape, etc., starting from the overall carbon neutrality goal of the building.

The reporter saw that the monitoring station was almost completely covered by photovoltaic panels. It is reported that in sunny weather, the equipment load is preferentially powered by photovoltaic power generation, and the excess photovoltaic energy is stored in lithium battery energy storage units for use in cloudy, rainy days, and at night. Hydrogen energy serves as a backup power source for the system, which is generated by photovoltaic or mains electricity for water electrolysis to produce hydrogen. The resulting hydrogen is compressed and stored, and then converted into equipment load electricity when needed. In addition, the monitoring station also combines passive energy-saving and carbon reduction technologies such as introducing natural light into underground spaces, utilizing underground space insulation performance, and capillary air conditioning systems to double reduce carbon emissions.

There are also environmental protection knowledge popularization exhibitions such as "zero carbon technology", "sponge city", "Shanghai century old water supply", "water quality purification", and "water quality monitoring" inside the station, realizing the diversified functions of "visible, learnable, and trial" that integrate water quality monitoring, science popularization display, and public experience, and creating a "zero carbon" ecological environment education demonstration base. The Ecological Environment Bureau of Yangpu District stated that the Yangpu Binjiang energy-saving "zero carbon" demonstration building has revitalized the old industrial heritage of Binjiang with low-carbon new vitality, and also hopes to be a leader in the low-carbon development concept, providing a demonstration model for the whole city.

After graduating from Loughborough University in the UK and returning to China, he has had two entrepreneurial experiences in other provinces and cities. For his third entrepreneurial venture, he set his sights on Qingpu in Shanghai. "The park is big and new, and the office environment is very good!" This is Xue Yunhao's first impression of Shanghai Qingpu Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurship Park. Having settled in the park for just over a month, Shanghai Shike Fun Culture and Technology Co., Ltd., founded by him, has entered the right track of development, and the incubated trendy toy brand is about to face the market. The reporter learned that in September last year, the Qingpu Innovation Park located in the Hongqiao Business District officially opened, and soon became a dream destination for "Xue Yunhao". In less than a year, the park has attracted nearly 50 entrepreneurial enterprises, and among the nearly 200 international students working hard in the park, the vast majority are master's students

In summer, Yang Quan, a delivery rider from Lincang, Yunnan, has once again encountered the toughest delivery season of the year. However, his heart is steadfast: the "Warm New Nest" new employment group service station in front of the Zhaofeng Square in Zhongshan Park is a harbor for him and his colleagues to shelter from wind and rain throughout the year, regardless of the extreme cold or heat. This is one of the many "warm new nests" in Changning District. Yang Quan, born on the banks of the Lancang River and born in the 1990s, did not know that in the bustling city center of Shanghai, many people used to live in shabby houses, some of whom also faced insurmountable difficulties such as serious illness and unemployment. The Huayang Road Street in Changning District, where Zhaofeng Square is located, is one of them. 30 years ago, grassroots cadres in Huayang visited day and night to understand the living conditions of all the disadvantaged groups and helped them solve difficulties one by one.
