Bund No.1, the first floor of the Bund, has left behind a red story of underground party organizations; The Bund 2, the first KFC restaurant in Shanghai to open, is also an important symbol of reform and opening up... On July 4th, after more than half a year of preparation, the "Centennial Bund · Red Footprints" Bund Red Story Gathering organized by Jiushi Real Estate was launched on Bund 1. The "Centennial Bund: Red Footprints" Bund Red Story Collection is also a "walking party lesson", connecting for the first time the red resources behind the historical protected buildings in the core area of the Bund.
The Bund Historical Architecture Complex, known as the "International Architecture Expo Group," gathers buildings from different periods, styles, and countries, as well as condenses the development and changes of modern Chinese politics, economy, and social culture.
Jiushi Property Company, a subsidiary of Jiushi Group, is entrusted with the management of 16 excellent cultural relics and historical protected buildings located in the core area of the Bund. In the daily major tasks of repairing historical protected buildings and urban renewal and development, Jiushi Real Estate has found that many classic buildings on the Bund have inspiring red stories and patriotic stories behind them, as well as many stories that reflect Shanghai's pioneering spirit of standing at the forefront and daring to be the first.
"We have formed a special working group and visited units such as the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the Shanghai Municipal Party School, the Huangpu District Party History Research Office, and the Bund Street in Huangpu District. Through consulting experts, researching historical materials, and visiting descendants of revolutionaries, we have sorted out and excavated more than 20 red stories around the red resources of classic Bund buildings in different periods." The person in charge of Jiushi Real Estate said that this time, we have launched the "Walking Party Class" around the red resources of Bund buildings, aiming to pay tribute to history while reading classic buildings and let the vast number of party members and the masses receive baptism in the spectrum of red spirit.
The "Walking Party Class" launched on that day mainly revolved around seven classic buildings, including Bund 1, Bund 2, Bund 6, Bund 14, Bund 18, Bund 27, and Hankou Road 110.
The Bund No.1 was first built in 1916 and later added. It was the tallest building on the Bund at that time, known as the "First Bund Building". In 1917, the building was named the Asia Building. After 1945, "Guangda Huaxing" settled at No. 1 Bund. The main founders Lu Xuzhang and Yang Yanxiu joined the CPC in 1937 and 1938 respectively. Huaxing has repeatedly provided cover for the central leadership and underground party leaders to travel between the Nationalist controlled areas, secretly delivering intelligence and a large amount of urgently needed materials to the base areas, and sending a large amount of funds to the party's first and second line organs and Yan'an. In 1995, Lu Xuzhang passed away due to illness and donated all his property to the country.
Except for Bund 1, the stories behind other buildings are equally touching. The Bund No. 2 was once the headquarters building of Shanghai, but many old Shanghainese like to call it the "Dongfeng Hotel". In the memory of more Shanghai born in the 1980s, this is the first KFC restaurant in Shanghai to open. In December 1989, the first KFC in Shanghai settled in the former Dongfeng Hotel located at No. 2 Zhongshan East Road. The institutionalized process operation, clean and bright store, uniform attire for staff, and smiling service brought a refreshing feeling to Shanghai residents. Despite the high prices of KFC packages at the time, a long ordering line once lined up from the store to the road. The first KFC in Shanghai to settle on the Bund is also one of the iconic cases of reform and opening up.
The Bund 6, the first self operated bank by Chinese people, was established here, and the national economy broke through the blockade of foreign financial capital; At No. 14 Bund, now the General Union Building, a large number of outstanding talents such as the first registered accountant have emerged; 110 Hankou Road, leaving behind the story of financial giant Hu Bijiang planning the economy and supporting the financial industry in the rear during the Anti Japanese War for the country
To tell the red story and the Bund story well, Jiushi Real Estate has selected outstanding party members to form a "Bund Guardian" preaching team. "We will continue to enrich the content of the walking party class," said Zang Hua, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Jiushi Real Estate. The next step is to rely on the "Bund Red Story Collection" to enable party members and the masses to "walk forward, understand, and receive education" in the classic buildings of the Bund, becoming a vivid practice of theme education, and striving to build a practical base for party building activities.
