With the opening of the 2023 Shanghai Summer Music Festival, on July 9, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra joined hands with Hunan Road Street, Xuhui District, and the "MISA Classics in the City" activity has successively entered Hengfu Style Museum, Old House Art Center and Xiangyang Park, creating multiple sound scenes at different cultural landmarks in "wutong District", inviting citizens to feel the close connection between elegant music and the city.

The reporter learned from Hunan Road Street that this event is one of the important links in the construction of Shanghai's first "New Era Civilization Practice Characteristic Music Street". In the summer evening, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra specially invited three outstanding young performers to bring classical and crossover music works of different styles to citizens and tourists with a violin, a flute, and a saxophone. From 4pm to 7pm that day, when people pass the three cultural landmarks mentioned above at different times, they can encounter the melodious music under the wutong tree.

At present, the "New Era Civilization Practice Characteristic Music Block" in Hunan Road Street has gathered music institutions and performance spaces such as Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, major theaters, piano houses, bookstores, museums, etc. It is not only a place for music fans to linger and forget to return, but also a good place for ordinary citizens to approach classical music and enjoy art. Relying on professional forces such as the "Music Street Co governance Committee" and the "Music Street Expert Committee", the construction of the Music Street has always adhered to the concept of co construction, co governance, and sharing, gathering wisdom from all parties to discuss the development vision.

"The Shanghai Summer Music Festival is a classical party belonging to this city, and we hope that every citizen and tourist can fully enjoy the joy and emotion brought by classical music." Zhou Ping, the head of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, said that this year's "143 year old" Shanghai Symphony Orchestra has nurtured and grown up in Shanghai, experiencing storms and sunshine together with this city. This year, the Shanghai Summer Music Festival pays special attention to the connection between music and urban space, striving to convey the vision of "music makes citizens' lives better".

Therefore, at the initiative of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Hunan Road Sub district, member units of the "Music Street Co governance Committee" have engaged in in-depth cooperation for the first time around the summer music festival activities. Member units such as the Xuhui District Cultural and Tourism Bureau, the District Greening and Urban Appearance Bureau, and the Xufang Group provide performance venues, allowing the concert venue to enter historical buildings, urban parks, trendy gathering places, and living blocks. The diverse performance scenes also make classical music closer to the lives of citizens.

In the Wukang Road Anfu Road style block of Hunan Road Street, citizens and tourists can also experience co branded products and other related promotional activities at brand merchants in the style block such as "Corner Cone Gelato" ice cream shop and Yuangu Yunjing restaurant with summer music festival tickets. Hunan Road Street will continue to use music as a medium to achieve two-way linkage between music blocks and scenic blocks, promote deep integration of culture, commerce, and tourism, and unleash the new consumption potential of the block.
