On the morning of June 27th, the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Source project was launched and started construction in Yangpu District. The project is located north of Wujiaochang and at the gateway of Xinjiangwan City. It is a brand new science and technology innovation landmark fully built by Yangpu Science and Technology Innovation Group, with a total construction area of about 146000 square meters. It is planned to be completed in about 3 years and become the future headquarters park of "Big Creative Intelligence" for industrial community collaboration. Enterprise representatives have jointly launched the "Big Creative Intelligence Science and Technology Innovation Source" ecological partnership co construction plan.

It is worth mentioning that the Science and Technology Innovation Source project includes two historical protected buildings from nearly a century ago: the Industrial Materials Testing Institute of the Chinese Society of Engineers and 200 Minjing Road, one of the twelve mansions. Especially the former was one of the important sources of technological innovation in the past, but now it has been revitalized, empowering the new Shanghai "science and technology innovation ecosystem".

The Chinese Society of Engineers was first founded by Zhan Tianyou. The launch ceremony specifically invited Mr. Zhan Yong, the great grandson of Zhan Tianyou, to attend, and he shared the scientific and technological origins of century old architecture with the guests.

The 334 and 336 neighborhoods where the Science and Technology Innovation Source project is located belong to the Jiangwan Historical and Cultural Scenic Area, and are the only remaining historical residential buildings and important research buildings. Among them, the Industrial Materials Testing Institute of the Chinese Society of Engineers was established by the Chinese Society of Engineers to seek progress in architecture, representing the origin of modern Chinese science and technology innovation and modern Chinese engineering. The building was designed by Dong Dayou, all constructed according to the drawings, and the current state is well preserved.

The Twelve Mansions were the second batch of residential buildings developed and launched by Xingye Trust Society. Due to the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, they were not fully completed, and only one building, 200 Minjing Road, was left behind. This small building features a distinct modernist style and is one of the examples of Chinese architectural design moving from tradition to modernity.

Such historic buildings are commonly found in the central areas of Shanghai, such as Jing'an, Huangpu, and Xuhui. Xintiandi and other regions have successfully built dynamic clusters of high-end commerce and headquarters economy on its basis. And when combined with the "scientific and technological innovation" attribute, it becomes even more rare. For Yangpu and even the whole city, this is a rare and precious historical treasure. The plot is also adjacent to Wujiaochang, the sub center of the city, and the ecological corridor of Xinjiangwan City. It is reported that the Science and Technology Innovation Source project also has seven new buildings, consisting of six towers and one cultural building, forming a layout of "one side technology, one side culture". The color of the newly built building is transparent and gentle, and the material color selection is coordinated with the overall historical style of Jiangwan. The interface facing the west side of the tower increases the physical area of the facade and reduces the energy consumption of the building caused by westward sun exposure; For cultural interfaces, reduce the physical parts appropriately and create a more harmonious atmosphere with historical buildings as much as possible.

Cultural architecture to a certain extent undertakes the task of transitioning from technology to historical culture: the building height is weakened, the facade realizes the transition from preserving historical buildings to tower podiums, and the double-layer skin takes into account cultural and functional needs.

After the project is completed, it will introduce well-known domestic and foreign enterprise headquarters such as online new economy, cultural and creative design, digital health, and dual carbon economy, as well as a batch of high-end commercial enterprises. The former Industrial Materials Testing Institute of the Chinese Society of Engineers will focus on cultural exhibitions, open to the public, and serve urban life. 200 Yuanminjing Road will serve as the Jiangwan Style Science and Technology Cultural Museum, providing high-end business exchange, Shanghai style cultural experience and other functional services. Cultural architecture will promote aesthetic lifestyles and enhance the core of urban culture through international art residency projects, art exhibitions, digital research laboratories, art education, and other diverse cultures. Several tower and podium buildings will also introduce cultural bookstores, cultural and creative art markets, etc., to create cultural landmarks that gather innovation and entrepreneurship popularity.
