On July 27th, 2023, the Qingpu District Homestay High Quality Development Promotion Event was held. At the event, representatives of 30 high-quality homestay enterprises were awarded comprehensive homestay industry licenses, and the Qingpu Homestay Manager mini program was launched simultaneously, providing support for the development of the Qingpu homestay industry and reducing operating costs for homestay operators.

Qingpu has abundant natural and cultural resources, and the development of homestay economy has unique advantages. Since 2018, Qingpu District has taken the lead in exploring homestay registration work in rural areas and three ancient towns of Zhujiajiao, Jinze, and Liantang. In recent years, with the increasing demand for tourism accommodation among citizens and tourists, the Qingpu homestay industry has flourished. Currently, 86 rural homestays and 19 ancient town homestays have successfully obtained comprehensive permits.

Since the beginning of this year, Qingpu District has carried out a series of reforms in the construction of a "one-stop" platform for homestays, reasonable reduction of admission costs, optimization of license processing processes, and issuance of comprehensive industry licenses. At the same time, it further encourages local private capital to inject into the homestay industry. The relevant person in charge of the Qingpu District Cultural and Tourism Bureau told reporters that in the future, Qingpu will continue to improve the entire online process of comprehensive licensing for the homestay industry.

"By 2025, Qingpu District will develop more than 200 high-quality and personalized homestays, cultivate and create more than 20 high-quality star rated homestays, guide the construction of 2-3 homestay resorts and demonstration towns for cluster development, and meet the new demand for multi-level, personalized, and high-quality mass tourism consumption." The relevant person in charge of Qingpu District Cultural and Tourism Bureau said.

Relying on excellent natural environment and ecological advantages, Dongshe Village in Liantang Town will become the first homestay resort built by Qingpu District. On the basis of preserving rural characteristics, Dongshe Village will plan functional areas such as the water town cultural core area, commercial service area, sports and health care area, and meditation themed leisure area. Combining with homestay locations, the focus will be on improving the water town river and corner landscape nodes, creating a slow action line for rural areas such as boating, cycling, and walking. In addition, the homestay gathering villages in Qingpu, such as Caibang Village and Cenbu Village in Jinze Town, also have their own characteristics, providing citizens and tourists with high-quality leisure experiences.

During the event, Qingpu District Cultural and Tourism Bureau took the lead in launching the "Homestay Butler" WeChat mini program to serve homestay owners. The first phase will launch four service contents: "Shared Chef", "Shared Waiter", "Preferred Linen", and "Field Shop". Homestay owners can schedule "shared chefs" and "shared servers" online when needed, solving the problem of some homestays not having dedicated chefs or servers, reducing labor costs, and providing flexible employment opportunities for skilled rural labor.

"Optimal Linen Selection" focuses on the quantity of linen required by major homestay enterprises in the area. Through group business negotiations, it further reduces the cost of homestay linen washing and unifies linen washing standards. "Field small shops" have joined forces with homestay enterprises to add special agricultural product exhibition and sales channels for cooperatives in the area, meeting the needs of tourists. "In the future, we will optimize and adjust the details of the 'Homestay Butler' mini program in a timely manner based on feedback from all parties, and launch other services such as shared kitchens, shared spaces, and shared activities in a timely manner," said the relevant person in charge of the Qingpu District Cultural and Tourism Bureau.

In order to cultivate and promote the economy of non weekend homestays, at the end of February this year, the Qingpu District Bureau of Culture and Tourism launched the "One, Two, Three, Four, Say Go" non weekend homestay discount activity, inviting citizens and tourists to Qingpu from Monday to Thursday to experience the gentle beauty of the Jiangnan water town. The Qingpu District Cultural and Tourism Bureau has formulated a detailed work plan to integrate the cultural and tourism resources of the entire district and provide tourists with significant price discounts. As of the end of July, the non weekend occupancy rate of Qingpu homestay has increased three times compared to the same period.
