In the past month, Yang Yuxiao, a student of Donghua University, practiced in Daqiao Street, Yangpu District, facing the urgent and difficult needs of the people and the complex work of grassroots cadres, which made her more deeply understand the concept of "People's City" centered on the people.
Recently, the summer practice camp for outstanding college students in Yangpu District of Shanghai has concluded. Yang Yuxiao and 50 outstanding college students from universities in Shanghai rushed to 24 government agencies and streets to create a combination of job practice and on-site research as internships. After a month of practice, I have experienced the pulse of Yangpu's innovative development and felt the various aspects of people's livelihoods in grassroots governance. It is expected to grow into an important force in Yangpu's development in the future.
The relevant person in charge of the Organization Department of Yangpu District Committee stated that Yangpu is currently proposing "new practices and innovative development for the people's city", which is also a new requirement for the cadre team to "start again". This practical camp is the first collaboration between the Organization Department of the District Committee and the Youth League District Committee. Through the Youth League organization, outstanding students from various schools are recommended, and through several rounds of screening, the best are selected, taking a step forward in selecting and cultivating future talents for Yangpu District.
These outstanding college students have also learned many valuable experiences in their positions that cannot be learned in school. In the field of people's livelihood, find out the needs of the masses, investigate the difficulties of governance and the crux of the problem in terms of the occupation and blockage of fire passages, the encroachment and destruction of tactile paving and other phenomena; In the field of development, seek direction for change, collect public opinion and seek expert countermeasures and suggestions on themes such as building a demonstration area for elderly friendly cities and ecological governance of Yangpu Binjiang; In the field of governance, seeking effective paths, focusing on the application of people's democracy throughout the entire process in old reform, improving the system of "community rule of law commissioners", learning policy connotations, and exploring innovation in grassroots governance.
During his travels to residential areas, Yang Yuxiao felt that working at the grassroots level requires personal charm, allowing residents to "buy face" in order to carry out work more smoothly. Fudan University graduate student Zhu Yimeng found during a survey and distribution of questionnaires that the format of "sending a red envelope in a WeChat group to receive the questionnaire" in universities is not feasible outside of campus. Grassroots work still needs to shed its scholarly atmosphere, walking from house to house, knocking on doors one by one.
Chen Changxiao from Huashi Normal University was deeply involved in a two old and one village renovation project. During this period, some residents were dissatisfied with the plan and called on everyone not to sign the contract together, nor did they want to listen to explanations. The street organized several relevant department heads and held a symposium specifically for him to fully explain the design concept of the plan to the resident. After attending the symposium, the resident not only realized that following the plan was actually cost-effective, but also deeply felt that his proposal had been valued by the government. In less than an hour, he changed his attitude. Chen Changxiao said that participating in the project and experiencing these things made him more intuitively feel the practice of people's democracy throughout the entire process, and also helped him establish a people-centered work philosophy.
Yang Yuxiao has another insight: With the development of the economy and society, grassroots governance has encountered many new problems and requires more young people to provide new ideas. This summer practice camp also created a "Youth Wisdom Team" proposal and policy building activity, allowing college students to voice the voice of young people at the forefront of development and governance. A total of 15 high-quality research reports were generated during the activity, of which 5 were rated as excellent. The person in charge of the relevant unit commented that although some of these research reports still have a bit of a scholarly atmosphere and some are like graduation theses, it can be seen that they have all undergone in-depth investigation and research, uncovering new problems and solutions from the perspective of young people.
At the closing ceremony, the Organization Department of Yangpu District Committee introduced the policies related to the recruitment of selected and reserved talents to the campers, and issued invitations to encourage them to actively lead outstanding students to go deep into Yangpu, fall in love with Yangpu, stay in Yangpu, and help Yangpu innovate and develop again.
