Recently, the first "Mr. He E Cultural and Art Salon" was held in Haikuo Dong'an Cultural and Creative Industry Park, Shanyang Town, Jinshan District, Shanghai. 86 year old famous sculptor and director of Gansu He E Sculpture Institute, He E, returned to his hometown of Jinshan, Shanghai to share the creative story and life insights of his representative sculpture "Mother of the Yellow River", and admitted that he will work hard to contribute to the cultural prosperity of his hometown.
He E, a famous female sculptor born in 1937, was one of the first generation female sculptors trained in New China. She worked in Dunhuang for a full 12 years and successively copied the colored sculptures of 5 caves, including 194 Caves and 159 Caves. There, she seemed to touch the heartbeat of ancient craftsmen: "Dunhuang art is like the sea. I only delve into a drop of water in the sea and receive endless nourishment. From these ancient art masterpieces, I can imagine that ancient sculptors not only had superb skills, but also integrated life into their works, so every piece of work seems to be endowed with a soul. As contemporary artists, we must work harder to create works of our time."
He E introduced that after leaving Dunhuang, she created many works, such as "Mother of the Yellow River" and "Embroidered Girl". Among them, "Mother of the Yellow River" is the artistic crystallization of her study of Dunhuang color sculpture art and her insight into brilliant civilization. It has become a landmark sculpture and urban business card of Lanzhou City, and has won the "New China Urban Sculpture Construction Achievement Award".
At the cultural and art salon that day, the 86 year old artist appeared energetic and had a lot of conversation. Her sharing left the audience deeply moved and benefited greatly.
