Can children withstand adversity? The project to enhance the resilience of minors is expected to achieve full coverage of children in Pudong this year
To effectively implement the Law on the Protection of Minors, pay attention to the physical and mental health of minors, and shift the protection of minors from "therapeutic" to "preventive". The Civil Affairs Bureau of Pudong New Area has set up a special project to enhance the resilience of minors in response to the physical and mental health of children after the epidemic. The Shanghai Pudong New Area Love Tree Life Care Center has been commissioned to set up "Strong Vitality" children's life classes, "Let Home Have Love" parent-child life classes, and "Smart Parents" parent growth groups in Huamu Street, Yangjing Street, Jinqiao Town, and Zhangjiang Town to improve parent-child relationships through life education and help minors establish internal life beliefs.
At the project summary meeting on June 29th, Yu Mei, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Pudong Love Tree Life Care Center, introduced that the "Improvement of Juvenile Resilience Project" is an important manifestation of the "Six in One" comprehensive and three-dimensional protection work of family protection, school protection, social protection, network protection, government protection, and judicial protection in Pudong New Area, following the promulgation of the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Minors". It is also a sample of the cooperation and linkage of "home, school, and society" in the public service content of the "Youth Protection Station" in Pudong New Area as a leading area.
It is reported that in 2022, the love tree will pass through three projects: the "strong vitality" children's resilience class, the "let the family have love" parent-child interaction workshop, and the "smart parents" parent growth group. 22 life education volunteers have completed 246 sessions and 6018 person-times of service. In the service satisfaction survey conducted by Love Tree, 93.7 percent of the audience gave 5-star favorable comments, and 89 percent of the audience expressed their willingness to continue taking life education classes. "Bravery, honesty, gratitude, responsibility and initiative" are the top five qualities that the audience learned in the courses.
A parent from the Smart Parents Group in Huamu Road Street said, "I am very grateful for the opportunity to participate in such a course of learning, which has made me more aware that as a parent in the new era, we should also keep up with the times, establish close relationships with our children, actively communicate with them about life problems and challenges, give them more respect and encouragement, let them achieve their own growth, and cultivate their ability to face various challenges in the future and live a beautiful life.".
Li Zhiwei, Director of the Social Welfare Department of the Civil Affairs Bureau of Pudong New Area, said, "In addition to children needing life education, parents also urgently need life education. This project to enhance the resilience of minors not only delivers life education to schools, but also opens up space for community education, making the community an important battlefield for family life education.".
It is reported that in 2023, the project will continue to expand its scope and strive to achieve full coverage of 36 streets and towns. "I hope more children and families can enter the life classroom," said Li Zhiwei.
