A "tug of war competition with ten thousand people" is taking place in the "largest community" of Shanghai, today in Kangcheng | residents | community
On the evening of July 16th, in the "super large community" of Shanghai Kangcheng, the scorching summer couldn't stop people's enthusiasm for going out of their homes to participate in activities. A "tug of war competition with ten thousand people" was held as scheduled on the playground of Kangcheng Experimental School. Residents formed more than 100 teams based on buildings to participate in the competition.
The scene was bustling with people, and in addition to the tug of war competition, there were also colorful neighborhood carnival activities such as parade ceremonies, parent-child games, anti fraud propaganda, and trunk markets, attracting residents to participate and experience the interaction.
In the tug of war team, most of the neighbors from the same building form teams, as well as local police officers and urban management team members, as well as community merchants and delivery guys form teams. On the tug of war ropes one by one, police officers who occasionally mediate disputes in the community, delivery guys who have a chance to meet up, and residents have the opportunity to get to know each other and compete on the same stage.
The planning and execution of this large-scale event were all completed by community partners and volunteers. It is reported that from the establishment of the event preparation group to crowdfunding and projects, from the discussion of registration methods to the research and application of online lottery and other mini programs, Kangcheng has set up 9 working groups and spent 3 days recruiting more than 150 community volunteers to join. This community event with the theme of "Our Kangcheng" ultimately attracted tens of thousands of people to participate in tug of war and neighborhood carnivals. Mr. Wang, a community partner, said that an event brought the distance between neighbors closer and ignited the usually cold community atmosphere. The entire community is looking forward to this tug of war competition.
Why is this tug of war event being held? This also starts with recruiting partners for the Kangcheng community. In order to fully mobilize the enthusiasm and initiative of residents to participate in community governance, Kangcheng Community launched the recruitment of community partners in March this year. Residents who are concerned about and have a certain professional knowledge background in community affairs can sign up to participate. The first batch of partners were recruited to 88 people. In one-on-one interviews with community officials and partners, many partners mentioned that last year's Battle for the Protection of Greater Shanghai increased mutual understanding and communication among neighbors. However, now, this warmth seems to be fading, and even the once busiest volunteer group has not spoken up for a long time. "Can we use a large-scale event to reunite everyone and create a community atmosphere?".
So, the Kangcheng Community Party Committee quickly decided to hold a large-scale community event. The content and form of the event were determined through consultation by a preparatory group composed of partners, and the community Party Committee and various neighborhood committees provided full support and logistical support.
Thus, an event known as the "tug of war among ten thousand people" emerged. What should we do if the preparatory group is mostly composed of office workers and there is no time or venue for meetings? Then provide the community meeting room for residents to use tonight. What should we do if we mobilize residents to participate in the activity, and everyone's participation is not high and they are shy? Four neighborhood committees and three schools in the community joined forces, and the building leader widely promoted the situation. The school also issued an initiative to encourage students to complete a "neighborhood ice breaking" community practice during the summer vacation and meet some new friends in their own buildings. The event also received strong support from China Railway First Bureau, Pacific Insurance Company, and surrounding enterprises and merchants, bringing more social warmth and possibilities to the event.
It is reported that after the tug of war event, the game facilities on site will be open to residents for a period of time, providing a good place for everyone to take a walk with their children after tea and dinner. A resident also suggested, "In the future, there can be more room for imagination, such as the popular 'Village Supermarket' and 'Village BA' on the internet. Can we also learn from them and create our 'Kang Chao' and 'Kang BA' in Kangcheng?"
A tug of war rope ignited the enthusiasm of the entire community. A community activity brings "you, me, and him" closer together in the community, turning "your and your health city" into "our health city". The relevant person in charge of Xinzhuang Town stated that behind this activity is an exploration of grassroots party building and grassroots social governance, hoping to find ways to unite people's hearts, make good use of people's resources, and promote autonomy, so as to further enhance community cohesion and sense of belonging. In the future, Kangcheng Community will continue to explore and cultivate the endogenous resources and strength of community governance, seek more "partners" and "think tanks", and jointly create a "beautiful community" for everyone to participate in and enjoy.
